An image forming apparatus includes a display and a control device. The control device functions as: a detector detecting a trouble occurred in an own apparatus; and a controller. The controller performs, with respect to a trouble-displaying image including a two-dimensional code in which a storage location on a network is converted into an image, at least one of three outputs of displaying on the display, printing on a recording sheet, and transmitting to an external apparatus. The storage location is where information indicating a method for dealing with the trouble detected by the detector is stored. Based on a predetermined first degree using at least either difficulty in solving the trouble or seriousness of the trouble as an indicator, the controller changes a size of the two-dimensional code corresponding to the trouble so as to be larger as the first degree becomes higher, and then outputs the two-dimensional code.

Methods and devices for biometric verification are disclosed. During registration or encoding, a first vector representing biometric features of a subject is generated. Machine-readable optical labels based on the first vector are then generated. During validation or decoding, physical characteristics representative of the subject are captured, the physical characteristic containing biometric features of the subject. The biometric features are identified in the captured physical characteristics. A second vector representing the identified biometric features is generated. The machine-readable optical label is read to decode the first vector. The first vector is compared with the second vector to compute a match probability.

An image processing apparatus includes a storage device, an image reading device, a complementary image storage device, and a control device. The complementary image storage device stores a complementary image for complementing an incomplete two-dimensional code. The control device includes a processor and functions, through the processor executing a control program, as a detector, a synthesizer, and an analyzer. The detector detects, from the image obtained through the reading of the image reading device, the incomplete two-dimensional code. The synthesizer synthesizes the incomplete two-dimensional code detected by the detector and the complementary image stored in the complementary image storage device to generate a complete two-dimensional code. The analyzer analyzes the complete two-dimensional code generated by the synthesizer and activates an extension function.

In order to enable a reduction in complexity in setting a communication parameter, a communication apparatus operable to provide a communication parameter to an external apparatus, generates a first image that is used in a first setting scheme for providing a communication parameter and in which information including a communication parameter is encoded; and generates a second image that is used in a second setting scheme for providing a communication parameter and in which information that does not include the communication parameter and that does include authentication information for performing an authentication is encoded. Then, the apparatus accepts information used to determine which of the first setting scheme and the second setting scheme to use; and, displays, based on the information, either the first image or the second image.

Various embodiments herein each include at least one of systems, software, and methods for detecting such problems and to take corrective action. One embodiment, in the form of a method, includes instructing a printer to print a document including a testing output and receiving an image of the document including the testing output from an imaging device. This method further includes analyzing the testing output included in the received image in view of an expected testing output to identify a printing issue and then storing a result of the analysis. The method may also include performing at least one remedial action to correct an identified printing issue.

A printed document client receives a first print stream for a soft copy document, determines whether one or more conditions for adding a graphical symbol to the printed document are satisfied, and when the one or more conditions for adding the graphical symbol to the printed document are satisfied, adds the graphical symbol to the first print stream to generate a second print stream that includes the graphical symbol, and outputs the second print stream to a printer so the graphical symbol is printed on the printed document corresponding to the soft copy document. The printed document can be a hard copy document or a soft copy document generated from the second print stream.

The present invention is to realize a simple communication connection. A shooting system S includes: a display device 2 configured to change identifiers periodically so as to present an identifier; a management server 1 configured to share the identifier with the display device 2; and a user terminal 4 configured to acquire the identifier presented on the display device 2 when an identifier acquisition operation by a user is detected, and to transmit, to the management server 1, the acquired identifier and an operation instruction to operate a camera 3 identified by the acquired identifier. The management server 1 includes an information control block 114 which performs control to associate image data acquired with the camera 3 based on the operation instruction transmitted by the user terminal 4 with the identifier presented on the display device 2 when the identifier acquisition operation by the user is detected.

A system includes an operation device and an information storing apparatus, which are connected via a network. The operation device determines, based on information input from the outside of the operation device in response to an operation performed on the operation device, an electronic device among a plurality of electronic devices connected to the system, for causing the electronic device to input electronic data to the information storing apparatus, and sends, to the information storing apparatus, a first request to cause the determined electronic device to input the electronic data to the information storing apparatus. The information storing apparatus sends, to the determined electronic device, a second request based on the first request sent from the operation device, and stores the electronic data that has been sent from the determined electronic device based on the sent second request.

A controller of an information processing apparatus is configured to receive image data representing a first size image, the first size being a size within which a first number of first objects can be printed, extract second image data included in the first image data, the second image data representing the first object, create first print data used to print the second number of first objects on the second size sheet in an arranged manner based on the extracted second image data, the second number being less than the first number, the first size being a size of a sheet on which the first number of first objects can be arranged, the second size being a size of a sheet on which the first number of first objects cannot be arranged but the second number of first objects can be arranged, the first print data being transmitted to a printer.

An image forming apparatus includes a processor configured to create a preview image of an image created by executing a job; store image data of the created preview image in a memory; create an information code representing a storage area of the memory where the image data is stored; and display the information code created by the processor on a display.
