A multi-function device (MFD) is disclosed. For example, the MFD includes a communication interface to establish a communication path with a network, a user interface to display a plurality of fields associated with different settings of a configuration file of the MFD, a processor, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a plurality of instructions. The instructions when executed by the processor cause the processor to detect selection of a field associated with a setting of the configuration file, establish a connection with at least one networked MFD on the network, query the at least one networked MFD for a value used in the field associated with the setting of the configuration file that is selected, receive the value from the at least one networked MFD, and populate the field with the value.

An apparatus includes a notification unit configured to notify a user of information, and a controller configured to identify at least one unit based on an operation performed by the user among a plurality of units included in the apparatus, wherein the notification unit can notify the user of first information indicating the identified at least one unit and second information regarding disinfection of the identified at least one unit.

A display controller includes: a display unit that displays information together with a menu of operations; a screen controller that switches at least one item included in the menu between full display and compact display for display; and an operation unit that accepts an operation from a user including an operation for the menu. In a case where the operation unit accepts the operation for the menu, the screen controller switches the compact display of the menu item to the full display in response to the operation. In a case where display other than the menu is updated, the screen controller switches the full display of the menu item to the compact display.

An image processing apparatus that is capable of a simple operation and is capable of executing a function in an action pattern corresponding to a changeable user's request. A registration unit registers a function in association with an action pattern. A selection unit designates a function registered by the registration unit and to select one of a first mode and a second mode. A controller controls so as to execute a function designated by the selection unit according to the action pattern registered in association with the designated function when the selection unit selects the first mode, and to execute a function designated by the selection unit according to an action pattern designated by a user irrespective of the action pattern registered in association with the designated function when the selection unit selects the second mode.

An example system includes a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored therein instructions that are executable to cause the system to perform various functions. The functions include, for each sample print of a plurality of sample prints, receiving respective color-measurement data indicative of color measurement patches printed on the sample print. The functions also include determining, using the respective color-measurement data for the sample prints, a respective color gamut volume for each sample print. Further, the functions include ordering the sample prints in order of increasing color gamut volume using the respective color gamut volumes for the sample prints. Still further, the functions include providing for display a presentation order for the sample prints, with the sample prints of the plurality of sample prints being arranged in order of increasing color gamut volume.

An information processing apparatus displays a first job setting screen for a user to perform a setting when a predetermined job is executed by a first application and a second job setting screen for the user to perform a setting when the predetermined job is executed by a second application, displays a menu screen including the first application's software key and the second application's software key and one or a plurality of job histories having information regarding the application selection information, and receives designation of any of the job histories by the user. Whether an application corresponding to the information regarding the application selection information included in the designated job history is the first application or the second application is specified, and the first job setting screen or the second job setting screen, which corresponds to the specified application, is displayed.

A print plugin different from an application displaying an application screen on a terminal may be unable to display a screen over the application screen at timing unintended by a user. In such a case, the print plugin is unable to display a warning screen for notifying the user of a warning related to print processing, and the user is unable to be informed of occurrence of the warning. If the warning screen is unable to be displayed over the application screen, the print plugin instructs the terminal to issue a notification for calling the warning screen.

An image forming apparatus for a display unit that is configured to display at least one of a foreground or a background includes a display control unit. The display control unit is configured to cause the display unit to display, in the foreground, a first screen corresponding to a first input by a user. The display control unit is also configured to cause the display unit to display, in the background, a second screen corresponding to a home screen of the user. The display control unit is also configured to cause in response to receiving a clear input from the user, the display unit to display, in the foreground, the second screen and display, in the background, the second screen separately from the second screen displayed in the foreground.

An information processing apparatus instructs, if an audio input device such as a microphone is in use by the information processing apparatus, a printing apparatus to which a print job is transmitted to operate in a silent mode to reduce operation noise occurring in printing.

An image forming apparatus includes a display, and a scanner that reads one or more originals to obtain image data of the originals and a number of the originals. A memory device stores a set of instructions, and at least one processor executes the instructions to, among other things, display a first screen including an item for accepting a designation, by a user, of an insertion position of an insertion sheet. If a designation for insertion of the insertion sheet is made, the item includes an initial value of the insertion position that is determined based on the number of the originals that have been read by the reader. The at least one processor also executes the instructions to display a second screen including information related to the insertion sheet in accordance with receiving the designation by the user via the first screen.
