An image reading apparatus includes an output tray that receives a medium which is output thereon; an output roller pair that outputs the medium onto the output tray; an output-tray posture switching portion that switches a posture of the output tray with respect to the apparatus body; and an output-direction switching portion that switches an output direction of the medium by using the output roller pair. The output roller pair includes an output driving roller, and an output driven roller that nips the medium between the output driven roller and the output driving roller and that follows the rotation of the output driving roller. The output-direction switching portion switches the output direction of the medium by displacing a rotation center of the output driven roller around a rotation center of the output driving roller.

A sheet conveyance device has a sheet conveyance path with a first path and a second path. A wireless tag communication device can write information to a wireless tag on a sheet on the first and second paths and receive responses from the wireless tag. A controller controls the wireless tag communication device to attempt to write information to the wireless tag while on the first path, then determines whether information has been written to the wireless tag on the first path according to a response received from the wireless tag. The controller switches a conveyance destination for the sheet to the second path if the information has not been written or to a discharge location if the information has been written. The controller then controls the wireless tag communication device to attempt to write information to the wireless tag while the sheet is on the second path.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, a reverse roller pair, a revering motor. A controller controls rotation of the reverse motor in a first feeding mode for the sheet with a first length and in a second feeding mode for the sheet with a second length shorter than the first length. The controller executes a first acceleration control in which the reverse motor rotating in the first rotational direction is accelerated from a predetermined speed to a first target speed faster than the predetermined speed after a rear end of the sheet passes through the image forming portion in the first feeding mode, and said controller executes a second acceleration control in which the reverse motor rotating in the first rotational direction is accelerated to a second target speed slower than the first target speed after the rear end of the sheet passes through the image forming portion in the second feeding mode.

A reading apparatus includes: a reading section that reads a side of a medium; a first medium transport path that includes a position facing the reading section; a second medium transport path coupled to a medium mounting section and coupled to the first medium transport path, the second medium transport path being inclined at a first angle with respect to the first medium transport path; and a third medium transport path coupled to the first medium transport path, the third medium transport path being inclined at a second angle, which is less than the first angle, with respect to the first medium transport path.

A sheet discharging apparatus includes a first discharge unit and a second discharge unit, a first stacking unit configured to stack the sheet discharged by the first discharge unit, a second stacking unit configured to stack the sheet discharged by the second discharge unit, a lifting unit configured to lift and lower the first and second stacking units, and a control unit configured to perform a separation process of moving at least one of the first and second stacking units so as to increase a distance between the first and second stacking units in a vertical direction in a case where a matter has come into contact with a lower surface of the first stacking unit and a distance between the sheet stacked on the second stacking unit and the lower surface of the first stacking unit is smaller than a threshold value.

An image reading apparatus includes a common transport route, a first and a second transport route, a first and a second image sensor, a first and a second discharge tray, and a controller. The controller executes a first reading mode including guiding the document from the common transport route to the first transport route, reading the image on the first face of the document with the first image sensor, and discharging the document to the first discharge tray, or a second reading mode including reading the image on the second face of the document with the second image sensor, guiding the document from the common transport route to the second transport route, and discharging the document to the second discharge tray, inhibits the first reading mode, upon deciding that the first discharge tray is full, and inhibits the second reading mode, upon deciding that the second discharge tray is full.

An image reading apparatus includes a first conveyance path, a second conveyance path, an insertion/discharge port, an image reader that reads an image on a medium conveyed along the first conveyance path, and a switch that is located at a first position or a second position, wherein the switch disconnects the first conveyance path from the second conveyance path and connects the insertion/discharge port and the first conveyance path when the switch is located at the first position, and disconnects the insertion/discharge port from the first conveyance path and connects the first conveyance path and the second conveyance path when the switch is located at the second position.

A recording apparatus includes a lower unit having a recording section configured to perform recording on a medium, and an upper unit disposed on the lower unit, the upper unit including a reading section configured to read an image of the document, in which the lower unit includes a medium discharge section configured to discharge the medium toward the rear of the apparatus, and a medium receiving section disposed on the apparatus rear side with respect to the medium discharge section, the medium receiving section being configured to receive the medium discharged, and the upper unit is shorter than the lower unit in the apparatus front-rear direction and the upper unit is closer to the apparatus front with respect to the lower unit such that an end portion of the medium receiving section in the medium discharging direction is exposed at the rear of the upper unit.

A recording apparatus includes a lower unit having a recording section configured to perform recording on a medium, and an upper unit disposed on the lower unit, the upper unit including a reading section configured to read an image of the document, in which the lower unit includes a medium discharge section configured to discharge the medium toward the rear of the apparatus, and a medium receiving section disposed on the apparatus rear side with respect to the medium discharge section, the medium receiving section being configured to receive the medium discharged, and the upper unit is shorter than the lower unit in the apparatus front-rear direction and the upper unit is closer to the apparatus front with respect to the lower unit such that an end portion of the medium receiving section in the medium discharging direction is exposed at the rear of the upper unit.
