IMAGE READING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD OF IMAGE READING APPARATUS, AND STORAGE MEDIUM
Provided is an image reading apparatus in which a setting screen is displayed upon detecting that a document is placed on the document tray. In a case where a document is placed on an automatic document conveyance device, if a paper jam occurs while using the automatic document conveyance device, a screen of a paper jam is preferentially displayed even when a setting of automatically displaying a selection screen of a sheet thickness is set at the time. This prevents a specific screen desired to be continuously displayed from being hidden upon detecting that a document is placed on a document tray.
MULTIFUNCTION MACHINE, IMAGE SCANNING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD FOR MULTIFUNCTION MACHINE, AND COMPUTER READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM
A control method for a multifunction machine includes detecting placement of a document on a document tray, displaying an object in accordance with document placement detection, storing information indicating the thickness of the document set using the object, conveying the document based on the information, and scanning the conveyed document. The object is displayed in accordance with document placement detection while a function selection screen is displayed, the information is received from a user through the object, and the document is conveyed based on the information in a case where execution of the copy function is commanded through a copy screen displayed after selection of the copy function. Even when a user places a document while a function selection screen is displayed, the thickness of the document can be set with certainty, and the document is scanned based on the set thickness.
TRAY ORIENTATION AND PRINT SIZE SELECTION FOR PRINTING
Printer tray orientation and print size selection includes receiving printable media in a tray of a printer. Tray guide positions of the tray are measured. An overall list overall list of all sizes of printable media capable of fitting in the tray is created by comparing dimension ranges of the tray guide positions to a predetermined media size dimension list for the tray in multiple orientations. A prioritized list of printable media sizes capable of fitting in the tray for given tray guide positions is created. A preferred printable media size is selected based on the prioritized list.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, DOCUMENT READING DEVICE AND CONVEYANCE METHOD
An image forming apparatus comprises a tray, a conveyor, a detector and a movement mechanism. The tray accommodates at least one document. The conveyor conveys the document placed on the tray. The detector detects that the document is placed on the tray. The movement mechanism moves the tray from a first position to a second position closer to the conveyor than the first position based on the detection that the document is placed on the tray, and after moving the tray from the first position to the second position, moves the tray to the first position based on a setting of a mixed stacking mode in which mixing of the documents with different sizes on the tray is permitted.
Media Sensing Assembly in a Manual Input Feeder of an Image Forming Device
A media detection assembly for sensing media presence in a manual input feeder having a media support surface that is foldable out of a front of a removable media input tray of an image forming device. The media detection assembly includes a sensor disposed above the media support surface. A rotatable first arm is mounted above the media support surface and movable between a first position when no media is present in the media support surface and a second position when media is present in the media support surface. A rotatable second arm is mounted between the first arm and the sensor and is operatively connected to the first arm such that the second arm is movable by the first arm to change a state of the sensor when the first arm moves between the first position and the second position.
Image forming apparatus having a normal mode and a power saving mode
An image forming apparatus has a power supply portion, an operation panel, a document set portion, a plurality of sensing portions including a document set sensing portion that outputs a document set signal at a first level if the document is set, and control portions. The control portions, at transition to the power saving mode, stores flag data if the document set signal is at the first level, and when the level of any of the status signals from the plurality of sensing portions changes while in the power saving mode, even if the level of the document set signal is the first level, if the flag data is stored, the control portion maintains the electric power supply to the operation panel as the electric power supply expected in the power saving mode.
Image forming system for processing sheet information, printing apparatus and method for controlling the same, and computer-readable storage medium
An image forming system having a printing apparatus including a feeder to be pulled out and an image forming unit. The printing apparatus further includes a reception unit to receive a user instruction for setting sheet information on a sheet in association with the feeder. Based on set sheet information, the image forming unit forms an image on a sheet fed from the feeder. The image forming system further includes a display unit to display feeder information and a detection unit to detect that the feeder in a pulled-out state is closed. The display unit displays the feeder information subjected to the user instruction in a first display form and, based on a detection by the detection unit, changes the display by the display unit including the first display form having the feeder information to a display including a second display form different from the first display form.
Power saving control for image forming apparatus with post processing functions
An image forming apparatus includes: a post-processor including a sheet detection circuit detecting a sheet inserted in a sheet insertion opening for manual stapling, a staple mechanism executing stapling processing on the sheet, and a drive circuit actuating the staple mechanism; a post-processing controller operating the drive circuit in response to detection of the sheet; a power circuit supplying power to the drive circuit and another circuit in the apparatus; and a power saving controller shutting off a power supply from the power circuit to the drive circuit and the other circuit and shifting from a normal mode to a power saving mode when a shifting condition is satisfied. Prior to shifting, the power saving controller checks the post-processing controller whether the stapling processing is currently executed, and, when the stapling processing is not currently executed, instructs prohibition of the stapling processing and shifts to the power saving mode.
SHEET FEEDER AND CONTROL METHOD OF PROCESSOR OF THE SHEET FEEDER
In a sheet feeder, an input passage has input and output ends and an input location. A first feeder module includes: a first input roller disposed on the input end; a first output roller disposed on the output end; and a first sensing device being disposed near the first input roller and generating a first signal transmitted to a processor upon sensing presence of a first medium. A second feeder module includes: a second input roller disposed on the input end; a second output roller disposed on the output end; and a second sensing device being disposed at the input location and generating a second signal transmitted to the processor upon sensing presence of a second medium. An image acquiring device acquires an image of the first or second medium. The processor controls enabled and disabled states of the first and second feeder modules. A control method of the processor is also provided.
