In an image processing system, an image reading apparatus determines whether an error occurs on a read image that is an image read by an image sensor, and generates and transmits data including the read image and error information that is information indicating presence or absence of occurrence of the error, and an image processing apparatus receives the data and performs, on the read image, image processing corresponding to the presence or absence of occurrence of the error, based on the error information.

An image forming apparatus extracts a pagination image from original document image data of each of a plurality of original documents, specifies a last-digit image corresponding to the ones place of a pagination, arrays a plurality of pagination images in a reading order of original documents beginning with an original document earliest read to form a matrix with n rows and ten columns, sets a row including ten different last-digit images as a reference row, sets a row after the reference row as a first check row, determines, in order from a first column, whether a pagination image of the first check row is a first subject pagination image differing in last-digit image from a pagination image in the identical column of the reference row, and, if determining that some pagination image or another is the first subject pagination image, determines that multi feed has occurred.

An image reading device includes a background member, an illumination unit opposed to the background member, and a reader. The illumination unit emits light to a recording medium having an image thereon. The reader receives a reflection from the recording medium to read the image. The background member has a facing surface that faces the recording medium. The facing surface includes a reference portion on a center portion in a width direction of the background member. The reference portion has a higher reflectance than an end portion of the facing surface in the width direction.

An image forming apparatus includes a document conveyance unit, an image reading unit, and a control unit that performs an area identification process for identifying, from among a plurality of specific areas in document image data, a specific area including an image corresponding to a page number. An image forming apparatus acquires an input image generated by reading an image of an original document to be copied, and determination information of whether or not the input image corresponds to a blank. The image forming apparatus controls a printer to print the input image together with a page number on a sheet and output the sheet, according to a determination result indicated by the determination information. At that time, the image forming apparatus controls the printer so as to output a sheet on which the page number is not printed, with respect to the input image determined to correspond to a blank.

An image reading apparatus includes an original stacking portion, an original feeding portion, an image reading portion, a shading operation portion, and a receiving portion. The shading operation portion acquires a shading correction value by causing the image reading portion to read a white reference member with a predetermined reading resolution when an original is stacked on the original stacking portion. When a resolution change instruction is received before reading of the original is started, depending on the resolution change instruction, the shading operation portion acquires a shading correction value by causing again the image reading portion to read the white reference member with a changed reading resolution.

Embodiments for 3D printing an object by a processor are described. During a 3D printing process to form a 3D printed object, an at least partially completed 3D printed object formed by the 3D printing process is scanned. An error on the at least partially completed 3D printed object is detected based on the scanning of the at least partially completed 3D printed object. The error on the at least partially completed 3D printed object is corrected. The correcting of the error includes causing at least some material from the partially completed 3D printed object to be removed.

A reading device includes a light source, an imaging element, a controller, a correcting unit, and a notifying unit. The light source is configured to irradiate an object with light. The imaging element is configured to receive and read the light from the object. The controller is configured to control a second reading operation of reading the object with an invisible image. The correcting unit is configured to perform correction with respect to the invisible image. The notifying unit is configured to notify an outside of at least the invisible image corrected.

A scanner having a medium transport device has: a medium placement section disposed so as to be exposed to the outside of a cabinet, the medium placement section having a placement surface on which paper to be transported is placed; a supply roller that feeds the paper in a transport direction by being rotated while in contact with a surface of the paper, the surface facing the placement surface; and a two-dimensional sensor disposed in the medium placement section. The two-dimensional sensor has a light emitting section that can emit light toward the paper placed in the medium placement section, and also has a light receiving section that can receive reflected light from the paper. The light receiving axis of the light receiving section intersects part of the cabinet.
