An information processing system adds density information to a first specific region of a document sheet represented by image data, the density information being indicated by a reference density lower than a density index value derived based on densities of pixels included in the image data. The system adds predetermined restriction information to the image data, the restriction information being indicated by a density equal to or higher than the reference density. The system acquires, as a determined density, a density of the first specific region. The system determines, based on the image data, whether a second specific region that is a part or all of a region of the document sheet, includes the restriction information indicated by a density that is equal to or higher than the determined density. If so, the system restricts a specific process concerning the image data from being executed.

An image processing apparatus capable of preventing failure in decoding additional information embedded in a print. The apparatus performs image processing for generating a print in which additional information is embedded. A halftone pattern used for halftone processing is set out of a plurality of halftone patterns. It is determined whether or not, in a case where the set halftone pattern is used for the halftone processing, encoded patterns generated based on the additional information can be uniformly reproduced from a color plane with which the encoded patterns are synthesized. In a case where it is determined that the encoded patterns cannot be uniformly reproduced, a warning notification is performed for notifying before outputting a print in which the additional information is embedded, a user that the print is a print which can cause failure in decoding the additional information.

Certain aspects of the present technology involve automated capture of several image frames (e.g., simultaneously in a single exposure, or in a burst of exposures), and application of a data-extraction process (e.g., watermark decoding) to each such image. Other aspects of the technology involve capturing a single scene at two different resolutions, and submitting imagery at both resolutions for watermark decoding. Still other aspects of the technology involve increasing the signal-to-noise ratio of a watermark signal by subtracting one image from another. Yet other aspects of the technology involve receiving focus distance data from a camera, and employing such data in extracting information from camera imagery. Embodiments of such technology can simplify image processing required for data extraction, with attendant reductions in required program memory and battery power consumption. Moreover, they can enlarge a system's operational envelopeenabling information to be extracted from imagery under conditions that lead to failure in prior art arrangements.

An image processing apparatus includes an image sensor that is moved to acquire a region image of a document placement region containing a document placed thereon, processor configured to invert or rotate the image such that the arrangement of a document image contained in the region image is coincident with a placement position of the document on the document placement region in accordance with a main scanning direction of the image sensor, a sub-scanning direction of the image sensor, and a predetermined direction, and a display on which the region image inverted or rotated by the processor is displayed.

Example implementations relate to multiple payload pantograph. Some examples may include a first pattern generation engine to generate a first pattern. The first pattern may be a data-bearing pattern encoding a first payload. Additionally, some examples may include a second pattern generation engine to generate a second pattern, the second pattern (by itself or in combination with the first pattern) may represent a second payload. The second payload may be camouflaged by a combination of the first pattern and the second pattern. Some examples may also include a pantograph generation engine to generate a multiple payload pantograph including the first pattern and the second pattern. The multiple payload pantograph may include the first pattern in one of the pantograph background or the pantograph foreground.
