Provided is a document reading apparatus wherein plurality of color reference boards can be flexibly changed. A document reading apparatus includes a document reading module, a document cover provided at a position where the document cover faces against the document reading module, an abutment portion provided in the document cover, a plurality of color reference boards detachably set up relative to the document cover, and a coupling portion that couples the plurality of color reference boards together and that abuts against the abutment portion. Each of the plurality of color reference boards includes a surface that faces against the document reading module and that has different reflectance.

An image reading device comprises a document table having a plate-shaped transparent member for a document to be placed thereon, an image reading unit for reading the document placed on the upper surface of the transparent member from the lower surface side of the transparent member, a carriage for driving the image reading unit to move reciprocally, and a case for containing the carriage. A flatbed scanner document scanner includes a large format document scanner body accommodating a rectangular rigid frame with an upwardly facing plane face and a rectangular transparent plate for supporting a large format document. There is provided an image reading apparatus including: a reading device; a carriage which the reading device is loaded; a support shaft which is formed of a conductive material, which is grounded to a ground potential, and which supports the carriage; and a conduction member which allows a conductive part of the carriage and the support shaft to be electrically conducted to each other, in which the carriage includes a bearing section which is formed of a material having electric insulation properties, in which the bearing section is supported by the support shaft in a state of abutting against the support shaft from one side of the support shaft in a direction intersecting with a shaft line of the support shaft, and in which the conduction member is fixed to the carriage, and abuts against the support shaft from a side opposite to the support shaft.

A flatbed scanner includes a flatbed document scanner body accommodating a transparent plate for supporting a physical document and a document cover, which includes a sheet member with an expanse covering at least a substantial area of the transparent plate. The rectangular document cover has an underside and a movable carriage extending across the rectangular transparent plate in a transverse direction. The movable carriage carries a camera or an optical system for a camera. The sheet member of the rectangular document cover is magnetic or carries one or more magnetic plates, so as to be magnetically attracted towards the movable carriage and exert a pressing force on the physical document when supported on the rectangular transparent plate. A compressing force is thereby applied to an original document resting at an area at which the movable carriage currently is located while scanning a line of the original document.

An image reading device includes a contact plate, a frame, a carriage, and a flexible flat cable. The carriage includes a reading mechanism and a resin-made slider projectedly provided at both end portions of the reading mechanism in its extending direction, and reciprocally moves in a sub-scanning direction at a bottom surface side of the contact plate while the slider slides the bottom surface of the contact plate in the frame. One side wall of the side walls has, on an outer surface thereof, one or more positioners that position the optical scanning device relative to an image forming apparatus main body. The bottom surface has one or more first bottom surface ribs extending from the positioners toward the f? lens in an oblique direction with respect to the side wall having the positioners in a plan view.
