Provided is an image reading apparatus capable of reading an image of an original at a high resolution by an image pickup unit by reducing an influence of a dark line included in a projection image on an original placing stand, which is ascribable to a displaying element included in a projecting unit and is to be exerted on an original placed on original placing stand. The image reading apparatus includes: an image pickup unit conducting image pickup for a placing surface; a projecting unit projecting an image on placing surface; and a switching unit switching a blur amount of image on placing surface, in which the switching unit sets a blur amount of image in a first mode, in which the image pickup is not conducted by image pickup unit, smaller than that in a second mode, in which the image pickup is conducted by image pickup unit.

An image reading device includes first and second image reading platforms that are separated from each other with a separation member, an image reading element movable between positions facing the first and second image reading platforms, a pair of sliding members that is slideable in a direction according to the movement of the image reading element on a pair of sliding paths that extends in the direction and is disposed so as to be spaced apart from each other in another direction intersecting with the direction and that is provided so as to at least partially overlap with the first and second image reading platforms; and a pair of protrusions disposed on parts of the pair of sliding paths positioned on both sides of the separation member in the another direction and that protrudes further toward the pair of sliding members from the first and second image reading platforms.
Image reading apparatus
An image reading apparatus includes a main body and a reading unit. The reading unit includes: a document table; a lower supporting member that supports the document table from below; an upper supporting member that contacts an upper side of the document table and clamps the document table with the lower supporting member; and a reading device. The main body includes an exterior member arranged in a position adjacent to the upper supporting member when the reading unit is in a close position. One of the upper supporting member and the exterior member includes an abutting portion and the other includes an abutted portion so as to configure a positioning mechanism for establishing positioning of a relative position between the upper supporting member and the exterior member in an up-down direction.

Adjustment for automatic document sheet reading with image reading device
An image reading device includes transparent plate member, reading portion, support member, and adjustment mechanism. The transparent plate member is an elongated plate extending in a second direction perpendicular to a first direction, and is in contact with a reading surface of a document sheet when the document sheet is moved in the first direction during an automatic document sheet reading. The reading portion is disposed below the transparent plate member. The support member supports a lower surface of the transparent plate member at two support points separated in the second direction. The adjustment mechanism biases an extension end portion, extending outward from one of the support points, of the support member in a downward direction opposite to the supporting direction of the support member, and adjusts a distance between the transparent plate member and the reading portion by changing a biasing force applied to the extension end portion.
Scan Through Display and Methods of Using Same
An imaging device, including a panel having a privacy layer selectively configurable in a transparent state and an opaque state that blocks light from passing through the panel, and a display layer made of transparent material and positioned between the privacy layer and an outer surface of the panel, the display layer spaced from the privacy layer. A scanning device is disposed proximate to a surface of the privacy layer opposite the outer surface of the panel, for scanning an object positioned along the outer surface of the panel, wherein the controller operates the privacy layer in the transparent state and the display layer to not display image data in at least a first portion of panel such that the first portion thereof is transparent during the scanning operation for scanning the object.
Reading apparatus with sensors located at different positions along a conveyer path
A reading apparatus, having a document tray, an ejection tray, a conveyer path connecting the document tray and the ejection tray and having a curved section, a conveyer to convey an original document in a conveying orientation, a first reading sensor, and a second reading sensor, is provided. The first reading sensor is located upstream in the conveying orientation from the curved section in the conveyer path. The first reading sensor optically reads a first side of the original document from below. The second reading sensor is located upstream in the conveying orientation from the first reading sensor in the conveyer path. The second reading sensor optically reads a second side of the original document from above. The first side and the second side are sides of the original document that face upward and downward, respectively, in the state where an original document is placed on the document tray.
