A medium feeding device includes a placement section on which a medium group is supported; a raising and lowering section configured to raise and lower the placement section; a pickup unit that includes a pickup roller that comes into contact with an upper section of the medium group and a support section that applies a downward force to the pickup roller, and that feeds a medium in order from a top in a feed direction while applying a downward pressing force to the medium group from the pickup roller; a control section; and a detection section configured to detect the pressing force, wherein the control section causes the raising and lowering section to raise and lower the placement section such that a detected pressing force falls within a target range.
Image reading apparatus and non-transitory computer readable medium
An image reading apparatus includes a document feeder; a platen; an image reader configured to read the document, fed by the document feeder, through the platen; a memory; and a controller. The controller causes the image reader to read a reference plate at a predetermined reading position to generate read data, and detecting whether the read data has an abnormality; when the read data has the abnormality, stores a detection position; sets a reading position of the image reader in the sub-scanning direction to a set position spaced by a predetermined range or more from the detection position; when instruction to start reading is received, moves the image reader under standby at a standby position to arrange the image reader at the set position; and reads the document, fed by the document feeder, by the image reader.
IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS
An image processing apparatus includes an image sensor, a reference member, and a data processing portion. The reference member includes a white reference surface that opposes the image sensor via a conveying path. The data processing portion detects a reference dark image that falls below a reference light amount from reference image data expressing a detection light amount of the image sensor obtained when a sheet is not being conveyed. The data processing portion further detects a target dark image that falls below the reference light amount from data whose position in the main direction differs from a position of the reference dark image out of target image data expressing a detection light amount of the image sensor obtained when the sheet is being conveyed. Thus, the data processing portion detects a base end position corresponding to a tip end portion of the sheet in the target image data.
Document reading apparatus that permits or inhibits transport of document through horizontal transport route, depending on status of discharge tray, and image forming apparatus
A document reading apparatus includes a first discharge tray that assumes a closed state or an open state, by pivoting about a first pivotal shaft, a first transport route linearly extending from a document tray to the first discharge tray, a first reading device that reads an image of the document, a transport device that transports the document through the first transport route, and a controller that, when an instruction to read the document is inputted to an input device, restricts the transport device from transporting the document and the first reading device from reading the image, when the closed state or a full state of the first discharge tray is detected by a first detector, and allows the transport device to transport the document and the first reading device to read the image, when neither of the closed state and the full state is detected by the first detector.
Reading apparatus with sensors located at different positions along a conveyer path
A reading apparatus, having a document tray, an ejection tray, a conveyer path connecting the document tray and the ejection tray and having a curved section, a conveyer to convey an original document in a conveying orientation, a first reading sensor, and a second reading sensor, is provided. The first reading sensor is located upstream in the conveying orientation from the curved section in the conveyer path. The first reading sensor optically reads a first side of the original document from below. The second reading sensor is located upstream in the conveying orientation from the first reading sensor in the conveyer path. The second reading sensor optically reads a second side of the original document from above. The first side and the second side are sides of the original document that face upward and downward, respectively, in the state where an original document is placed on the document tray.
MEDIUM DISCHARGE DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC APPARATUS
A medium discharge unit includes a discharge roller pair configured to nip a medium between a first roller and a second roller and discharge the medium to a sheet ejection unit, a first pressing member including a medium pressing portion configured to move below a nipping position at which the discharge roller pair nips the medium and being configured to press the medium by the medium pressing portion, and a lifting member configured to lift up the medium pressing portion from a first position below the nipping position to a second position above the first position. The medium pressing portion is lifted by the lifting member while a downstream leading edge of the medium in a discharge direction passes through the nipping position, and moves from the first position to the second position. While an upstream trailing edge of the medium in the discharge direction passes through the nipping position, the medium pressing portion moves from the second position to the first position.
Medium discharge device and image reading apparatus
A medium discharge device includes a discharge roller pair that is provided with a discharge driving roller and a discharge driven roller which drivably rotates in contact with the discharge driving roller, and a medium receiving tray which receives the medium that is fed and discharged by the discharge roller pair, in which the medium receiving tray includes a guide member which guides such that a tip end of the medium which is discharged from the discharge roller pair enters the medium mounting surface at a predetermined angle, and the guide member is provided to be elastically displaceable in an advancing and retreating direction with respect to the medium mounting surface of the medium receiving tray and is displaced in a direction coming close to the medium mounting surface according to raising of a pressing load due to the medium that is discharged to the medium receiving tray.
DOCUMENT READING APPARATUS THAT DETECTS DOCUMENT SIZE
A document reading apparatus includes a possible document edge detector that detects, on the basis of a density change indicated by image data acquired by a reading device, a density-changing point, where image density is equal to or higher than a threshold, and most downstream in a transport direction, at each of positions in a main scanning direction, as a possible position of a document edge, and detects an image formed of pixels continuously aligned in the main scanning direction at the possible position, as a possible document edge, and a document size detector that detects a document size in the main scanning direction, on a basis of the image of the possible document edge, when the image of the possible document edge detected by the possible document edge detector is formed of a single image extending in the main scanning direction at a same position in the transport direction.
Recording apparatus and paper feeding method
A recording apparatus having a support portion that supports a roll having a wound sheet, a drive portion, a conveying passage, a conveyer, and a recording portion. The drive portion rotates the supported roll in a first direction to feed the sheet from the roll, and rotates the roll in a second direction to rewind the sheet onto the roll. The conveying passage guides the sheet fed from the roll in a feeding direction and has first and second positions upstream of the conveyer in the feeding direction. The drive portion performs, before the sheet reaches the conveyer, a reciprocating operation in which the drive portion rotates the roll in the second direction in response to a leading end of the sheet reaching the first position and rotates the roll in the first direction in response to the leading end which reached the first position reaching the second position.
MEDIUM FEEDING APPARATUS
A medium feeding apparatus includes a media tray, a feed roller to feed a medium placed on the media tray, a driving source to generate a driving force, and a drive transmission assembly to transmit the driving force from the driving source to a rotation shaft of the feed roller. The drive transmission assembly is located inner than an end of a medium conveying path in a direction intersecting a medium conveying direction.
