A reading device includes a feeder, a reading unit, and circuitry. The feeder feeds a document. The reading unit reads the document fed by the feeder. The circuitry acquires image data of the document read by the reading unit, in a mode selected in accordance with a predetermined selection condition from a plurality of modes that includes a first mode for acquiring image data including a document area of the document and an outside area other than the document area and a second mode for acquiring image data of an area not including the outside area.

A scanner includes an image capturing module, a drive roller assembly, an idle roller assembly, and a guiding structure. The image capturing module is for capturing an image of an object. The drive roller assembly is for driving the object to move along a feeding direction. The idle roller assembly is for preventing a moving direction of the object away from the feeding direction by resiliently pressing the object. A feeding passage is formed between the drive roller assembly and the idle roller assembly. The guiding structure is disposed in front of the feeding passage and for guiding a normal direction of a leading edge of the object to be oblique relative to the feeding direction at an oblique angle. Therefore, the present invention can effectively reduce variation of a resistance force acting on the object as the object moves in the feeding path, which prevents image distortion.
Image reading apparatus and image reading method
A carrier sheet detecting unit is located upstream a reading unit in a transport direction in which transport is performed, and can detect a carrier sheet transported. Then, a control unit can determine that the carrier sheet is transported based on a detection result of the carrier sheet detecting unit. Additionally, the reading unit can read an original document sandwiched by the carrier sheet transported, the control unit can determine that the carrier sheet is transported based on a reading result of the reading unit. Then, the control unit switches between adopting the detection result of the carrier sheet detecting unit and adopting the reading result of the reading unit, and determines that the carrier sheet is transported.
Image reading apparatus, image correcting method
An image reading apparatus is configured to read an image of each of documents transported in a transport path from an upstream side to a downstream side in a transport direction, acquires a correction factor for correcting a read image on the basis of a fed document number, and corrects the length of the read image in the transport direction on the basis of the correction factor which has been acquired.

The conveying-housing fixing members comprise a material having rigidity lower than the material of the beams. The conveyer housing is fixed to the frame by the conveying-housing fixing members. The reader is fixed to the beams.

A first reading sensor reads a first surface of a document. A second reading sensor reads a second surface of the document. An elastic body presses the second reading sensor toward the document that is conveyed toward an other side in a first direction. A conveyance guide includes a protrusion accommodating the elastic body. A friction pad contacts, from below, the document supported by a document placement surface. A recess is recessed downward from the document placement surface. A feed roller at a lowermost position enters the recess. An opening is formed in the document placement surface. The opening allows an exposed surface of the protrusion to be exposed to a side to which the document placement surface faces. The friction pad, the recess, and the opening are arranged away from one another in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction and an upper-lower direction.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND PAPER DUST CLEANING DEVICE
The present disclosure is an image forming apparatus including a paper dust cleaning device which removes paper dust adhered onto a surface of a conveying roller. The paper dust cleaning device includes a paper dust removing member which comes into contact with the surface of the conveying roller, a holder which holds the paper dust removing member, and a holder supporting portion which holds the holder at a predetermined attachment position so that the paper dust removing member comes into contact with the surface of the conveying roller, and the holder supporting portion includes a first guide portion which is provided on a side of the attachment position and guides the holder to a separated position at which the holder is set apart from the surface of the conveying roller in accordance with a movement of the holder from the attachment position toward a side of an insertion slot.
