Imaging assembly for scanner
A system for processing document to scan the documents to obtain optical image data representing the document is provided. The system (10) includes elements that reduce or eliminate the effects of debris that can create streaks in the scanned images. One element is a recess (174) in the lens (170) through which an imaging device (60) scans the document. Another element is a guide (80) having an opening (84) opposing the lens (70, 170) of the imaging device (60). The opening (84) reduces or eliminates light reflecting off the guide back to the imaging device so that the area around the document is scanned as black.
Image Scanner with Dividing Member
An image scanner includes a transparent plate, a scanning device, a driving device, a positioning member, a light absorbing portion and a white reference portion. The transparent plate has an original placing surface. The scanning device irradiates an original with light by means of a light source and scans reflected light from the original. The driving device reciprocates the scanning device along the transparent plate. The positioning member positions the original placed on the original placing surface of the transparent plate. The light absorbing portion, which is disposed on the original placing surface side of the positioning member and at substantially a central portion of the positioning member in moving directions of the scanning device, absorbs ambient light entering to the original placing surface side of the positioning member through the transparent plate. The white reference portion is provided to the original placing surface side of the positioning member.
Recording apparatus and paper feeding method
A recording apparatus having a support portion that supports a roll having a wound sheet, a drive portion, a conveying passage, a conveyer, and a recording portion. The drive portion rotates the supported roll in a first direction to feed the sheet from the roll, and rotates the roll in a second direction to rewind the sheet onto the roll. The conveying passage guides the sheet fed from the roll in a feeding direction and has first and second positions upstream of the conveyer in the feeding direction. The drive portion performs, before the sheet reaches the conveyer, a reciprocating operation in which the drive portion rotates the roll in the second direction in response to a leading end of the sheet reaching the first position and rotates the roll in the first direction in response to the leading end which reached the first position reaching the second position.
