An image reading apparatus includes a main body part and an openable part. On an upper surface of the main body part, a first reading surface, a second reading surface and a first guide part arranged between the two reading surfaces are provided. When a direction parallel to a direction in which an original passes over the second reading surface is defined as a first direction, and a direction parallel to the second reading surface and orthogonal to the first direction is defined as a second direction, on the upper surface, a positioning convex part having a curved surface curved downward when viewed in the second direction is provided on an extended line of the first guide part. On a lower surface of the openable part, a positioning concave part having two inclined surfaces respectively contacting the curved surface when viewed in the second direction is provided.

An image reading apparatus includes a main body, a document pressing plate, and a light shielding portion. The main body has an image obtaining portion which irradiates illumination light on a document placed on a contact glass and captures an image formed on the document. The document pressing plate is attached to the main body in such a way as to pivot around a pivot shaft that is provided on a rear side above an upper surface of the main body. The pivot shaft moves in an up-down direction with respect to the main body. The light shielding portion, when the document pressing plate presses downward the document, extends downward from the document pressing plate with increase of an interval between the document pressing plate and the upper surface on the rear side in the up-down direction, so as to shield the illumination light not to leak outside.

Image reading apparatus with abnormality notification for driving unit and for position sensor
10652402 · 2020-05-12 · ·

An image reading apparatus comprises a driving control part which detects a driving abnormality of a motor which drives a moving unit configured to be movable. Further, the image reading apparatus comprises a HP sensor an output of which changes in accordance with a position of the moving unit, and a CPU(A) which moves the moving unit by controlling operation of the motor based on the output change of the HP sensor. The CPU(A) determines that a driving abnormality occurs in a case where the driving control part detects an abnormality while moving the back surface glass unit. The CPU(A) determines that a position detection abnormality occurs if the output of the HP sensor does not change even when the moving unit is moved by a predetermined distance (ON reference moving amount and OFF reference moving amount) or more in a state where no abnormality is detected by the driving control part.

Transparent platen with chamfered egress edge

In one example, an apparatus includes a transparent platen to receive a document to be scanned. The transparent platen includes a scan line, an ingress edge positioned prior to the scan line in the document path, and a chamfered egress edge positioned subsequent to the document path. A light source is positioned to illuminate the document with light while the document passes across the scan line, and a focusing mechanism is positioned to focus a portion of the light that is reflected by the document onto a sensor that senses the portion of the light.

Image reading device, document feeder device, and image forming apparatus

An image reading device includes a turning unit, a hinge, and a reading unit having a reader that reads a sheet image. The hinge turns the turning unit which turns relative to the reading unit. The reader reads, through a reading unit reading glass, an image on a sheet placed on the reading glass. The turning unit includes a pressing plate, a conveying roller, a motor, and a communication unit. The pressing plate presses a sheet against the reading glass when the turning unit is at a position closing the reading glass. The motor rotates the conveying roller to convey a sheet. In a direction perpendicular to a turning axis line direction of the hinge, the motor is disposed on one side of the turning unit. The communication unit is disposed on the other side and receives data from outside of the image reading device.
