A device enabling scanning of objects includes an imaging unit to scan objects and a supporting unit to support the imaging unit on an electronic device. The supporting unit includes a supporting leg that forms a rotatable joint with the imaging unit to enable the imaging unit to fold over the supporting leg. The supporting unit also includes a coupling unit to detachably couple the device to the electronic device.

Out-of-bounds detection for a document in a live camera feed

Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for processing a digital image of a document, for example, to determine whether the document is a long document. An exemplary method generally includes obtaining a plurality of digital images of the document, segmenting at least a first digital image of the plurality of images into pixels associated with a foreground of the first digital image and pixels associated with a background of the first digital image, detecting a plurality of contours in the segmented first digital image, deciding, for each detected contour of the plurality of contours, whether that contour is an open contour or a closed contour, and determining that one or more sides of the document is out of bounds based, at least in part, on the decisions.

Reading device

A reading device includes a housing, an imaging unit, a reading lighting unit, a guiding unit, and a guiding lighting unit. The housing has an opening covered with a transparent opening cover. An imaging unit is disposed inside the housing. The reading lighting unit illuminates the opening cover from inside the housing. The guiding unit is provided on the same plane as the opening cover at a position separated from the opening cover. The guiding lighting unit emits light from the guiding unit to the outside of the housing.

Capturing real-time video with zooming capability and scanning high resolution still images of documents using the same apparatus

Disclosed is a method of acquiring an image of a target to provide an output video image that has a plurality of frame images. The method includes the steps of receiving a series of frame images from a video camera, using a processor to manipulate the series of frame images from a video camera, using a processor to manipulate the series of frame images, which includes determining a reference resolution for providing output frame images, and displaying and/or storing the manipulated series of frame images as the output video image without changing a resolution of the output frame images. Also disclosed is a document imaging apparatus that includes a digital imaging unit. The digital imaging unit contains optics that having an infinite focal length. The document imaging apparatus also includes a processor that is coupled to the digital imaging unit and that is configured to cause the digital imaging unit to zoom in or zoom out in real-time while maintaining a resolution value of stored images constant. A non-transitory storage medium stores images obtained from the digital imaging unit and a display displays the stored images. A folding suspension arm supports the digital imaging unit at a distance from a target to be imaged.

COPY AND PASTE FROM A PHYSICAL DOCUMENT TO AN ELECTRONIC DOCUMENT

A method to select a content block from a physical document. The method includes generating, by a computer processor and based on an image of the physical document, extracted content blocks in the physical document, detecting, using a camera disposed toward a workspace surface, a finger gesture of a user that identifies a finger tap position on the workspace surface, selecting, by the computer processor, an extracted content block based on an intersection between the finger tap position and a region on the workspace surface associated with the extracted content block, and generating, based at least on the extracted content block, a final content block selection of the physical document for performing a document processing task of the physical document.

Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable storage media for collecting color information about an object undergoing a 3D scan

A method of performing a three-dimensional (3D) scan of an object includes applying an optical contrast powder to the object and illuminating the object with light. First and second two-dimensional (2D) color image data corresponding to the object is generated. First and second 2D monochrome image data corresponding to the object is generated using the first and second 2D color image data. 3D data corresponding to the object is generated using the first and second monochrome 2D image data. Color 3D image data corresponding to the object is generated by adding color information to the 3D data. The color 3D image data is displayed.

MULTI-MODE SCANNING CAMERA SYSTEM AND METHOD
20210266420 · 2021-08-26 ·

A multi-mode document scanning system includes a scanning bed configured to transport a plurality of documents through a scanning area. A scanning camera is configured to image the documents. At least one illumination bank includes a plurality of illumination elements of at least two different light wavelengths interspersed on at least one illumination bank. An illumination source switching assembly controls at last some elements of one wavelength. A selection process selects a wavelength appropriate to a document to be scanned, and instructs a processor operatively coupled to the illumination source switching assembly to illuminate elements of that wavelength. A multi-mode scanning method of document scanning is also described.
