OUT-OF-BOUNDS DETECTION FOR A DOCUMENT IN A LIVE CAMERA FEED
Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for processing a digital image of a document, for example, to determine whether the document is a long document. An exemplary method generally includes obtaining a plurality of digital images of the document, segmenting at least a first digital image of the plurality of images into pixels associated with a foreground of the first digital image and pixels associated with a background of the first digital image, detecting a plurality of contours in the segmented first digital image, deciding, for each detected contour of the plurality of contours, whether that contour is an open contour or a closed contour, and determining that one or more sides of the document is out of bounds based, at least in part, on the decisions.
Identifying complimentary physical components to known physical components
An approach is provided that captures a digital image of an object that has a number of facets. The approach further determines the actual sizes of various facets found on the object. The actual sizes of the facets are used to identify compatible objects based, with the compatible objects being objects that can work with the object.
OPTICAL INFORMATION READER
An optical information reader includes a reflective member that reflects illumination light emitted from an illuminant toward a reading surface, and an image former ensured to present an imaging target held over the reading surface within an imaging region of an imager. The imaging region includes a first imaging region defined between the image former and the reading surface, and a second imaging region defined between the reading surface and the reflective member so as to be continuous to the first imaging region when light is internally reflected on the reading surface inside the housing. The reflective member is arranged outside the first imaging region, while the illuminant, the imager and the image former are arranged outside the second imaging region. The illuminant emits illumination light toward a reflecting surface of the reflective member in the second imaging region.

Mobile device utilizing multiple cameras
A mobile electronic device may have two rear facing cameras to capture environmental information. A camera and a depth sensor of the mobile electronic device may capture biometric facial data for security verification. Characteristics of the environment may be identified based on the environmental information and results of the security verification.
IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS, NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM STORING PROGRAM, AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD
An image processing apparatus includes a processor configured to display, in a case where there are plural sets each consisting of plural documents, and plural sheets of documents including at least one sheet of a document of each of all or part of the plural sets are simultaneously imaged by an imaging unit that images a document, guidance information for guiding a placement position of the document of each set to be superimposed on an image imaged by the imaging unit and representing a current state, on a display unit, in second and subsequent imaging, by using information pertaining to documents acquired in past imaging.
Capturing real-time video with zooming capability and scanning high resolution still images of documents using the same apparatus
Disclosed is a method of acquiring an image of a target to provide an output video image that has a plurality of frame images. The method includes the steps of receiving a series of frame images from a video camera, using a processor to manipulate the series of frame images, which includes determining a reference resolution for providing output frame images, and displaying and/or storing the manipulated series of frame images as the output video image without changing a resolution of the output frame images. Also disclosed is a document imaging apparatus that includes a digital imaging unit. The digital imaging unit contains optics that having an infinite focal length. The document imaging apparatus also includes a processor that is coupled to the digital imaging unit and that is configured to cause the digital imaging unit to zoom in or zoom out in real-time while maintaining a resolution value of stored images constant. A non-transitory storage medium stores images obtained from the digital imaging unit and a display displays the stored images. A folding suspension arm supports the digital imaging unit at a distance from a target to be imaged.
Adaptive enhancement of scanned document pages
Enhancing image quality of an initial full image of a document page includes obtaining the initial full image of a document page, determining that at least a subset of text in the initial full image does not meet a predefined readability criterion, identifying at least one of a plurality of page fragments in the initial full image of the document page for enhancement, and sending an instruction to a mobile device to provide a photograph of the at least one of the page fragments. The photograph provides a separate fragment image for the at least one of the page fragments. The separate fragment image is then obtained from the mobile device and merged into the initial full image to provide an enhanced full image.
Document scanning apparatus composed of an automatic document feeding device and an image capturing device and scanning method thereof
The present invention relates to a document scanning apparatus which is composed of an automatic document feeding device and an image capturing device. The document scanning apparatus establishes a private area network between the automatic document feeding device and the image capturing device, and causes the automatic document feeding device to send a message to the image capturing device. When the message is received, said image capturing device performs corresponding operations in response to the message. Said operations may comprise, for example adjusting the relative position between the image capturing device and the automatic document feeding device or doing multi-documents scan.
READING DEVICE
A reading device includes a housing, an imaging unit, a reading lighting unit, a guiding unit, and a guiding lighting unit. The housing has an opening covered with a transparent opening cover. An imaging unit is disposed inside the housing. The reading lighting unit illuminates the opening cover from inside the housing. The guiding unit is provided on the same plane as the opening cover at a position separated from the opening cover. The guiding lighting unit emits light from the guiding unit to the outside of the housing.
