An image processing apparatus recognizes a character string included in image data generated by a reading unit, displays the recognized character string, receives a selection, performed by a user, of the displayed character string. The image processing apparatus thereafter determines, as a storage destination for the image data, a folder named with the character string that is based on the received selection and thereby stores the image data in the determined storage destination. Additionally, the image processing apparatus, in response to a reading instruction being issued once, reads images of a plurality of documents to generate image data, receives a plurality of times selection, performed by the user, of the displayed character string, and determines, as storage destinations, a plurality of folders named with the respective character strings that are based on the selection received a plurality of times.

A computing device initiates a linked capture session to enable automatic image sharing by multiple users and devices. The linked capture session is a group of devices that automatically share captured images during the linked capture session. The linked capture session may be initiated based on a location, a group of people, and/or a time duration. The images captured by devices that are connected in the linked capture session are automatically communicated to a remote storage system that allows all users to access the images through devices connected to the linked capture session.

A scanning network includes a central server configured to distribute a scan task. The scan task is associated with a scanning of an identified document. The scanning network further includes a plurality of imaging devices configured to receive and execute a scan task and a storage database configured to receive a document image created from execution of a scan task.

Techniques for signer-initiated electronic document signing via an electronic signature service using a mobile or other client device are described. Example embodiments provide an electronic signature service (ESS) configured to facilitate the creation, storage, and management of documents and corresponding electronic signatures. In some embodiments, when a signer user receives a hard copy (e.g., paper) signature document, the signer may capture an image of the signature document with a camera of a mobile device. The signer can then import the captured image into the ESS for signature, storage, and/or transmission to other parties.

The present invention relates to a method for uploading a file from a user device (10) to a data storage service (20, 30, 40). According to the method, a category of a set of categories is assigned to the file based on at least one characteristic of the file characterising a content of the file. Furthermore, a data storage service (20, 30, 40) from a set of data storage services is assigned based on the assigned category and the file is uploaded to the assigned data storage service (20, 30, 40).

There is disclosed a system and method for uploading an image file to an image repository from a mobile handheld communications device having an integrated camera. In an embodiment, the method comprises: upon determining capture of an image using the integrated camera, automatically initiating an image upload module; configuring the image upload module to display an image upload user interface having user selectable image upload settings; and upon receiving user instructions, uploading the image file to the image repository with the selected image upload settings. The upload settings may be preselected and the device may be preauthorized to access an account on the image repository.
