An image processing apparatus reads an image depicted on paper to create image data of the image and saves the image data in a storage; selects an intermediary from among one or more servers based on an e-mail address designated; sends location data indicating a saving location of the image data or the image data to the intermediary in order to provide a terminal with the image data via the intermediary; sends, to the e-mail address, an message including access information for accessing the location data or the image data saved to the intermediary; and sends, when the intermediary is accessed by the terminal based on the access information and requests the image data, and further, when data corresponding to the access information is the location data, the image data to the requesting server.

An information terminal transmits information relating to user authentication to an image processing apparatus via short-range wireless communication. The image processing apparatus performs processing for the user authentication using the received information, and transitions to a status where a function of the image processing apparatus is used via an operation unit upon condition that the user authentication has succeeded. The information terminal transmits data to be used in any one of individual functions included in the image processing apparatus to the image processing apparatus based on receipt of information indicating successful user authentication from the image processing apparatus. After receiving the data from the information terminal, the image processing apparatus uses the received data as a setting of the function of the image processing apparatus that corresponds to the data.

An image forming apparatus that executes a password-protected job includes a function for omitting an input of a job password, manages a user password for keyboard authentication in association with a user, manages a personal identification number for icon authentication in association with the user, accepts login to an account of the user based on the keyboard authentication, permits execution of a password-protected print job associated with the user based on a print instruction without inputting a job password, accepts login to the account of the user based on the icon authentication, and permits execution of a password-protected print job associated with the user based on a print instruction with an input of a job password.

An image forming apparatus includes: a processor configured to: execute a linking application for a linkage with a specific service, to receive a linkage request from a user through the specific service; and perform an authenticating process that authenticates a user who uses the image forming apparatus, using user information on the user who uses the specific service linked as a result of an approval of the received linkage request.

When establishing a connection with an external apparatus for wireless communication, an information processing apparatus suppresses the connection establishment based on an unauthorized connection request, by determining whether or not information showing a name of the external apparatus included in each of a plurality of received wireless connection requests in a state capable of accepting the wireless connection request is the same, determining whether or not apparatus intrinsic information included in each of the plurality of received wireless connection requests in the state capable of accepting the wireless connection request is the same, and shifting, in a case where it is determined that the information showing the name of the external apparatus is the same and it is determined that the apparatus intrinsic information is not the same, the information processing apparatus to a state incapable of accepting the wireless connection request.

A portable information device includes: an image sensor; a position information acquisition portion that outputs position information; an orientation sensor; and a display that displays an image of an object output from the image sensor and displays relevant information on the object, the relevant information on the object being obtained based on at least measurement data from the position information acquisition portion and the orientation sensor.

An information processing apparatus includes a processor configured to: acquire first permission information indicative of an apparatus which a first user is permitted to use, permit the first user to use the information processing apparatus in a case where the first permission information indicates the information processing apparatus, and permit the first user to use the information processing apparatus in a case where the first permission information does not indicate the information processing apparatus and a second user having an attribute that is in a predetermined relationship with an attribute of the first user is permitted to use the information processing apparatus.

A system for tracking the location of an electronic device includes an electronic device and a wireless location tag. The wireless location tag includes a microcontroller unit, and a modular connector interface configured to be communicatively coupled to a port of the electronic device. The wireless location tag is configured to establish an Internet connection to one or more backend electronic devices in response to detecting that the wireless location tag has been communicatively coupled to the port of the electronic device, obtain identifying information that is associated with the electronic device, and identify tag identifying information associated with the wireless location tag. The wireless location tag is also configured to send one or more instructions to the one or more backend electronic devices via the Internet connection, and send one or more ping messages to the one or more backend electronic devices.

There is provided with an information processing apparatus and a method of controlling the same. The apparatus sets a naming rule for an image file and determines whether or not the set naming rule satisfies a predetermined condition. If it is determined that the naming rule does not satisfy the predetermined condition, the information processing apparatus warns a user. On the other hand, if it is determined that the naming rule satisfies the predetermined condition, the information processing apparatus generates a file name of the image file in accordance with the set naming rule, and stores the image file with the file name.
