There is provided with an information processing apparatus and a method of controlling the same. The apparatus sets a naming rule for an image file and determines whether or not the set naming rule satisfies a predetermined condition. If it is determined that the naming rule does not satisfy the predetermined condition, the information processing apparatus warns a user. On the other hand, if it is determined that the naming rule satisfies the predetermined condition, the information processing apparatus generates a file name of the image file in accordance with the set naming rule, and stores the image file with the file name.

A portable information device including a body, a position information portion that is provided in the body and that outputs position information, an image sensor that is provided in the body, a display system that is provided in the body and that displays, on a local field in a screen field, relevant information based on the position information such that the displayed relevant information is overlapped on a real-time image, an input portion that is provided on the body and, by use of which user operates an icon, the icon being displayed on the local field such that the displayed icon is overlapped on the real-time image and an imaging button that is provided, separately from the input portion, on the body and that is operated by user to capture a subject image via the image sensor.

An image transmission device includes a communicator that transmits image data to an e-mail address set by a user via a network, an operation acceptor that accepts user's settings, a storage that stores, for each predetermined case, a target domain applicable to the case, and a controller that controls the communicator, the operation acceptor, and the storage. When the user sets an e-mail address to which image data are to be transmitted, the controller determines whether a domain portion of the e-mail address matches a target domain of the case, and when the domain portion matches the target domain, the controller accepts settings of the e-mail address, and when the domain portion of the e-mail address does not match the target domain of the case, the controller does not accept settings of the e-mail address.

Methods and system are described for special processing of fax transmissions. In one embodiment, an electronic device receives a first searchable electronic document and a fax telephone number. The device determines that the document is to be transmitted as an electronic message based on the number. The device generates a second searchable electronic document from the first document. The device adds an electronic signature to the second document that includes at least one of a timestamp of when the first document was received, a number of pages of the second document, and source device information. The device transmits the electronic message that includes the second document to a destination address according to the number. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

A non-transitory computer readable medium stores a program that causes a computer to execute information processing. The information processing includes: receiving, through a wireless line, model information indicating a model of a service apparatus configured to provide a service in cooperation with a mobile terminal; and execute a process of activating an execution function associated with the model of the service apparatus indicated by the model information from among plural execution functions included in the mobile terminal, the plural execution functions being execution functions of executing services each associated in advance with a respective one of models of service apparatuses.

A communication apparatus operable to comply with a NAN (Neighbor Awareness Networking) standard, receives, from one or more other communication apparatuses, publish messages respectively indicating a plurality of services, and causes a display unit to display the one or more other communication apparatuses that transmitted the publish messages, wherein, if a plurality of services indicated by a plurality of received publish messages are services provided by the same other communication apparatus, the display unit is caused to display this one other communication apparatus.

A system for tracking the location of an electronic device includes an electronic device and a wireless location tag. The wireless location tag includes a microcontroller unit, and a modular connector interface configured to be communicatively coupled to a port of the electronic device. The wireless location tag is configured to establish an Internet connection to one or more backend electronic devices in response to detecting that the wireless location tag has been communicatively coupled to the port of the electronic device, obtain identifying information that is associated with the electronic device, and identify tag identifying information associated with the wireless location tag. The wireless location tag is also configured to send one or more instructions to the one or more backend electronic devices via the Internet connection, and send one or more ping messages to the one or more backend electronic devices.

A communication device including: a transmission file setter which sets an upper limit value of a capacity of a file transmittable by e-mail; a transmission page setter which sets a page count of a transmission file; a communicator which divides, when the transmission file including multiple pages exceeds the upper limit value, the transmission file into multiple divided transmission files, and transmits the divided transmission files; a transmission setter which receives a combining configuration file for combining the divided transmission files, and the setting of a combining tool; and a controller which controls the transmission file setter, the transmission page setter, and the communicator. When the communicator transmits the plurality of divided transmission files, the controller causes the communicator to also transmit the combining configuration file and the combining tool for creating a file of the page count, in accordance with the setting of the transmission setter.

An image forming apparatus that executes a password-protected job includes a function for omitting an input of a job password, manages a user password for keyboard authentication in association with a user, manages a personal identification number for icon authentication in association with the user, accepts login to an account of the user based on the keyboard authentication, permits execution of a password-protected print job associated with the user based on a print instruction without inputting a job password, accepts login to the account of the user based on the icon authentication, and permits execution of a password-protected print job associated with the user based on a print instruction with an input of a job password.

An apparatus includes: a communicator that communicates with another apparatus; and a controller that processes a job, wherein the apparatus, further, is communicable with a storage that stores device identification information and user identification information in association with each other, and the controller acquires, from the other apparatus, an execution request for a guest user's job including the device identification information, acquires the device identification information from the execution request, accesses the storage to search for the user identification information associated with the device identification information, and processes the guest user's job as a registered user's job on the basis of a fact that the user identification information associated with the device identification information is acquired from the storage.
