Image reading device and image forming apparatus that perform notification processing for notifying user that special original document to be read preferably at high resolution has been detected from among original documents read at low resolution
A number-of-documents calculator calculates a number of original documents on a document placement tray from their weight detected by a weight sensor. A controller sets a resolution to a predetermined first resolution when the number of original documents is less than a predetermined number or sets the resolution to a predetermined second resolution lower than the first resolution when the number of original documents is not less than the predetermined number, and allows a document reader to read images of the original documents at the set first or second resolution. A special document detector determines, based on image data on the original document, whether the original document satisfies a predetermined condition, and detects the original document satisfying the condition as a special original document preferably to be read at a third resolution higher than the first resolution. A notifier notifies a user that the special original document has been detected.
ASSESSING PRINTER QUALITY BY ASSIGNING QUALITY SCORES TO IMAGES
Disclosed here is a system enabling users/customers to receive an objective assessment of the performance of a printer. This is accomplished by comparing a quality score of an earlier-in-time image with a quality score of a later-in-time image. A processor analyzes each image based on several criteria and uses various image-analysis methods, to flag errors within an image. A numeric quality score, based on the number of errors, is provided to the user to objectively evaluate whether the printer has degraded or not. Thus, the user can objectively present an argument to a salesperson or manufacturer that the user is due a remedy.
Image forming system, portable terminal, and error notification method
An image forming system including an image forming apparatus and portable terminals is provided. The image forming apparatus comprises a unit that detects an error as a cause of an interrupt of image formation and transmits an error occurrence notification to each terminal, and a unit that, upon receiving a recovery operation start notification from a terminal and determining that a recovery operation for the error is started, transmits the recovery operation start notification to each terminal. Each terminal comprises a user interface that, upon receiving the error occurrence notification, displays an error notification screen, transmits the recovery operation start notification to the image forming apparatus in accordance with an operation by a user, and upon receiving the recovery operation start notification from the image forming apparatus, displays a recovery operation start screen on the user interface unit.
IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS
An image processing apparatus includes a printing unit configured to print an image on a sheet, a first sensor configured to detect a document in a reading unit, a second sensor configured to detect an error related to printing of the image by the printing unit, and a controller configured to generate a first screen for display presenting functions that can be executed by the image processing apparatus. The controller is further configured to, when the first sensor detects the document and the second sensor detects the error, generate a second screen for display indicating one or more first functions that require the reading unit but are not related to the printing of the image by the printing unit.
INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD, AND MEDIUM
An information processing apparatus is provided. The apparatus comprises a determining unit that, when an inspection instruction is made for a print job and an image forming apparatus includes an image reader that reads an image formed on a sheet surface in response to the inspection instruction included in the print job, determines whether a setting of the print job meets a condition under which an inspection can be executed; a setting unit that sets information indicating the inspection instruction in a detail of the print job when the determining unit has determined that the setting of the print job meets the condition; a sending unit that sends the print job to the image forming apparatus; and an inspecting unit that executes inspection processing on the basis of an image sent from the image forming apparatus.
Specialized Inksets and Alternative Fluids and Related Systems
Printer systems and associated ink cartridges can have specialized inksets and alternative fluids for use in printing. In such systems and cartridges, the inkset of a unique cartridge may be deliberately limited relative to traditional inksets that seek to have a wide color gamut such that chemistries having greater durability may be employed. Still further, such cartridges may include one or more functional inks that have a purpose other than merely coloration. Particularly in compact printers, for which space is limited, the system can be designed to accept various unique cartridges based on the intended printing application and print based on the characteristics of the received cartridge. Beyond this, the system may advise the user when a different cartridge is necessary and/or may be beneficially used for a particular application.
Method of managing print jobs based on job identification of the print jobs in printing system and apparatus for performing the same
Disclosed herein are a method and apparatus for performing print jobs in a printing system including a host device and a printing device. The method of performing print jobs in a printing system including a host device and a printing device includes: requesting printing while transmitting print data and identifications (IDs) corresponding to one or more print jobs, included in a job list, to the printing device; if an identification (ID) corresponding to at least one completed print job is received from the printing device, updating the job list by deleting a print job corresponding to the received ID from the job list; if an error has occurred in the printing system, determining whether the error has been resolved; and if it is determined that the error has been resolved, resuming printing.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, RECORDING MEDIUM, AND CONTROL METHOD
An image forming apparatus includes a CPU. When an error occurs, the CPU notifies a user or the like of the error and adds information about the error to an error table. When the error is resolved, the CPU deletes the information about the resolved error from the error table. The CPU refers to the error table and displays, on a display, a home screen in which a badge indicating the number of unresolved errors in each operation mode is displayed. When a mode selection button on which the badge is displayed is touched, the CPU re-notifies the user of the unresolved errors.
INKJET IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND TRANSFER CONTROL METHOD
An inkjet image forming apparatus includes a transferer and a hardware processor. The transferer transfers, onto a recording medium, ink that is ejected from an inkjet head and is borne on a transfer member. The hardware processor performs control for reducing transferability of the ink in a case where the ink borne on the transfer member is not-to-be-transferred ink, compared with a case where the ink is to-be-transferred ink.
