Provided is a management system that, recovers the image forming apparatus to being online by remote control from the management server. The image forming apparatus management system includes a message-receiving apparatus for receiving control instructions from the management server via a communication path (mobile telephone network) that is separate from a network. The management server detects an image forming apparatus of which the connection with a server-communication unit becomes offline as an offline apparatus. Then, the management server transmits a control instruction to the message-receiving apparatus via the communication path for causing the offline apparatus to recover the connection with the server-communication unit to online. The management-target image forming apparatuses are connected to the message-receiving apparatus, and based on control instruction received by the message-receiving apparatus, communicate with the server-communication unit via the network and recovers the connection to online.

An information processing system including a first device, a first virtual device, a second device, and a second virtual device, includes one or a plurality of processors configured to cause the first device to transmit nearby device information for specifying the second device, and recovery connection information used in a case where the second device connects to the first device, to the first virtual device, the first virtual device to transmit recovery connection information to the second virtual device corresponding to the second device indicated by nearby device information received from the first device, in a case where communication with the first device is not possible, the second virtual device to transmit the recovery connection information received from the first virtual device to the second device, and the second device to attempt to connect to the first device by using the recovery connection information received from the second virtual device.

A network device that is capable of notifying of a factor of an error when reboot in response to an instruction cannot be performed due to an operating state. The network device is connected to a network. A receiving unit receives a reboot instruction through the network. A determination unit determines propriety of reboot based on an operating state of the network device when the receiving unit receives a reboot instruction. A reply unit replies information indicating no error when the determination unit determines that reboot is available, and replies information indicating an error together with information indicating a factor of unavailable reboot when the determination unit determines that reboot is unavailable.

In one embodiment, a control method for an image processing apparatus including a reading unit configured to read a document image and a printing unit configured to print the document image read by the reading unit is provided. The control method includes detecting an error in process of reading by the reading unit, causing the reading unit to perform reread processing for rereading the document image based on the error being detected, and refraining, in a case where the image processing apparatus operates in a mode in which the printing unit starts printing without waiting for the reading unit to complete reading a document image, from causing the reading unit to perform the reread processing based on the error being detected.

An electronic apparatus includes a plurality of processing devices, and a power controller. The power controller is configured to control power supply fed to each of the processing devices. Each of the processing devices includes a detector configured to detect occurrence of an anomaly and a notifier configured to send a notification of the occurrence of the anomaly. Upon receiving the notification from the notifier, the power controller restarts the electronic apparatus by turning off and thereafter turning on the power supply of the plurality of processing devices.

An image forming apparatus is provided with a power supply switch, a control unit configured to transition the image forming apparatus into a suspend state when the power supply switch is turned off by an operation of a user, a device to which a power supply is stopped forcibly when the power supply switch is turned off by the operation of the user, and a notification unit configured to notify the control unit of an error that occurred on the device, and the control unit, in a case where the error is notified of by the notification unit, controls the image forming apparatus to revert from the suspend state and resets the image forming apparatus.

An information processing apparatus includes an interface and circuitry. The interface communicates with an auxiliary device via a first communication channel and a second communication channel. The first communication channel and the second communication channel are each separately exchange communications between the information processing apparatus and the auxiliary device. The circuitry obtains failure information indicating a communication failure occurring in the first communication channel, sends a shutdown instruction via the second communication channel in response to a determination to reboot the information processing apparatus, the shutdown instruction instructing the auxiliary device to shut down, and reboots the information processing apparatus.

An image forming apparatus capable of being remotely operated by a mobile terminal includes: a specification unit configured to specify an image to be displayed on the mobile terminal as an operation image for the image forming apparatus; an acquisition unit configured to acquire information on the number of display units of the mobile terminal; a decision unit configured to, when a plurality of images is specified as the operation images and the number of the display units of the mobile terminal is recognized as two or more, make a first decision that at least two of the plurality of images are to be displayed on at least two of the two or more display units of the mobile terminal; and a transmission unit configured to transmit a display instruction based on the first decision to the mobile terminal.

An information processing apparatus includes a display unit that displays an image, a storage unit that preliminarily stores first guidance information (representing operation contents relating to the first state) in association with a first state, a detection unit that detects the first state or a second state, a communication unit that provides communication with an external device, and a controller that controls the display unit, the storage unit and the communication unit. When the detection unit detects the second state, the controller causes the communication unit to transmit apparatus information representing a state of the information processing apparatus to the external device, causes the communication unit to receive second guidance information (representing operation contents relating to the second state) from the external device, and causes the display unit to display an image based on the second guidance information received by the communication unit.

An image forming device includes a memory, a memory controller, an error detector, a determiner, a print controller, a display, and a display controller. The memory controller acquires print information transmitted from an external device, and stores and controls the print information in the memory. The error detector detects a print error after start of printing of the print information. The determiner determines whether to execute sheet recovery processing to reprint a page in which the print error has occurred. The print controller controls a printing unit to execute the sheet recovery processing with the print information stored in the memory when a determination result to execute the sheet recovery processing is obtained. The display controller displays on the display a message indicating that the sheet recovery processing is not executed when a determination result not to execute the sheet recovery processing is obtained.
