Optimal template component printing includes reading from a pool, a set of printable pieces, each corresponding to a pattern for a respective garment, and each having known dimensions. A starting point is located on a section of a fabric substrate onto which the pieces are to be printed. Different piece combinations are then computed for different subsets of the pieces in the set for which a sum of the known dimensions of the pieces of the subset is less than or equal to a constraining dimension of the fabric substrate as measured from the starting point. A combination is selected which minimizes a difference between the constraining dimension and the sum and a printer is directed to print the pieces of the selected combination onto the fabric substrate. Finally, the pieces of the selected combination are removed from the pool and the process repeats for remaining pieces in the pool.

An inspection apparatus is provided, which is operable to inspect a cut sheet that is supplied to a post-processing apparatus that post-processes sheets in units of books and on which an image has been formed by an image forming apparatus. The inspection apparatus inspects an image formed on a sheet for each sheet; manages results of sheet inspection by the inspection unit for respective books including a plurality of sheets; and notifies, the post-processing apparatus of a result of inspecting a book including the sheet that is based on the managed sheet inspection results.

An information processing apparatus having a power-saving standby power mode, according to an embodiment of the present invention, first communicates with an image reading device configured to read an image from an original and receives image data obtained in the reading of the image. In a case where a reading operation does not normally terminate because the information processing apparatus changes to a power-saving state during the reading operation and it is confirmed that the image processing apparatus has returned from the power-saving state, the information processing apparatus instructs the image reading device to discard the received image data of an image that was being read from an original when the information processing apparatus shifted to the power-saving state, and re-read the image that was being read from the original.

An image forming apparatus is provided with a communication portion that is connected to an external device via a network and communicates with the external device and a control portion that controls communication by the communication portion and executes a restart process for restarting the image forming apparatus. When a preset restart target error has occurred, the control portion executes the restart process in a state where a network port used for communication with the external device is disabled.

It is possible to notify a user of a condition of a Web server in the case where Web contents cannot be acquired from the Web server in an apparatus that employs a Web UI. A request for Web contents is made to a server by using a first communication method, a screen based on the Web contents received as a response to the request is displayed on a display unit, a condition of the server is acquired from the server by using a second communication method different from the first communication method, and a screen based on the condition of the server acquired by using the second communication method is displayed on the display unit without displaying a screen indicating an error of the request on the display unit in the case where the Web contents cannot be acquired as a response to the request.

An image forming apparatus includes a print engine, a first CPU that controls operation of the image forming apparatus except for the print engine, a second CPU that controls operation of the print engine, and a shared memory. On executing processing of a print job, the first CPU performs a job management including managing job management information and storing the job management information in a data area of the shared memory, and the first CPU outputs image data to be printed, stored in the data area, to the print engine. The second CPU monitors an operation state of the first CPU and, on determining that the abnormality is occurring in the first CPU, maintains the processing of the print job by outputting the image data to be printed to the print engine as proxy for the first CPU and performing the job management as proxy for the first CPU.

An electronic device includes a controller coupled to a device via a signal line. The controller includes an outputter configured to output a predetermined signal to the device by using the signal line, when a predetermined abnormality occurs at the controller; and a power controller configured to control an operation of cutting off power supplied to the device, after a predetermined assurance time has passed from when the predetermined signal has been output.

An information processing system includes an operating unit that receives an input in response to a user operation and that runs under a first operating system; and a main body that runs under a second operating system and operates in response to the input received by the operating unit. The main body includes a generation unit that generates a command to direct rendering of a screen corresponding to an application being executed, and a command transmission control unit that provides control to transmit the command to the operating unit. The operating unit includes a receiving unit that receives the command from the main body, a screen rendering unit that renders the screen in accordance with the command received by the receiving unit, a display unit that displays the screen rendered by the screen rendering unit, and a reboot unit that reboots the operating unit in asynchronization with the main body.

A computer-implemented system and method for processing and distribution of unstructured documents are disclosed. The apparatus and method in an example embodiment includes receiving an unstructured document; obtaining information from the document; storing portions of the information obtained from the document in a data set corresponding to the document; using a portion of the information obtained from the document to obtain an identifier of an enterprise record corresponding to the document; recording a specified behavior category for the document; and using the data set and the specified behavior category to dispatch the document to a recipient or an enterprise.
