A virtual execution device includes a hardware processor, the hardware processor forming a virtual device by simulating an image forming apparatus in operation, in the case where a predetermined allowing condition is unsatisfied by an operation state of the image forming apparatus, acquiring a plurality of respective jobs that have been externally received by the image forming apparatus before the allowing condition becomes unsatisfied by the operation state of the image forming apparatus as reference jobs, selecting one or more reference jobs as exclusion jobs from among the plurality of acquired reference jobs, causing the virtual device to process process subject jobs that are not the one or more selected exclusion jobs among the plurality of acquired reference jobs, and in the case where the allowing condition is satisfied by an operation state of the virtual device, specifying the exclusion jobs as cause jobs that have caused errors in the image forming apparatus.

A printing apparatus receives selection of a use environment of the printing apparatus, sets multiple set values associated with the selected use environment in the printing apparatus, and provides a report screen displaying whether a security countermeasure for protecting multiple targets of security protection has been taken for each of the targets based on whether each of the multiple set values for activating multiple security functions for protecting the multiple targets of security protection has been set in the printing apparatus.

An image forming apparatus is provided with a storage unit for storing setting information including at least a size of a substitute recording medium, and a processing unit for executing a print instruction by automatically changing a size of a recording medium to be used to the size of the substitute recording medium based on the setting information stored in the storage means, when the size of the recording medium specified by the print instruction is not available.

A computer communicably coupled to an image forming apparatus sends paper information specified for a print job, and a print setting information that is used when the paper information does not match any one of a plurality of paper information of the paper set in a plurality of trays of the image forming apparatus. A processor of the image forming apparatus determines the paper on which an image specified for the print job is formed based at least in part on the paper information specified for the print job, the plurality of paper information of the paper set in the plurality of trays and the print setting information.

Examples to facilitate facsimile communication are described herein. In an example, on receiving a communication error for a call session, values of communication parameters to be used for another call session, which is subsequent to the call session for which the communication error is received, may be determined. The communication parameter may be, for instance, a transmission rate and an error correction mode (ECM). The values of the communication parameters in the subsequent call session may be determined, based on values of these parameters in a previous call session(s), i.e., the call session for which the communication error is received. Further, a communication channel may be established using the determined values of the communication parameters.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a first reader/writer device, a second reader/writer device, and a control unit. The first reader/writer device executes a wireless read/write operation on a wireless tag and is positioned in a sheet conveying path upstream of the image forming unit. The second reader/writer device executes a wireless read/write operation on a wireless tag and is positioned in the sheet conveying path downstream of the image forming unit. The control unit controls the image forming unit, the first reader/writer device, and the second reader/writer device. The control unit controls the second reader/writer device to perform an operation to detect a defect in a wireless tag that is included in a sheet as the sheet is conveyed along the sheet conveying path past the location of the second reader/writer device.

In one embodiment, a control method for an image processing apparatus including a reading unit configured to read a document image and a printing unit configured to print the document image read by the reading unit is provided. The control method includes detecting an error in process of reading by the reading unit, causing the reading unit to perform reread processing for rereading the document image based on the error being detected, and refraining, in a case where the image processing apparatus operates in a mode in which the printing unit starts printing without waiting for the reading unit to complete reading a document image, from causing the reading unit to perform the reread processing based on the error being detected.

An image processing apparatus includes a memory, an auxiliary storage used as a virtual memory together with the memory, and a hardware processor. The hardware processor determines whether or not a predetermined region set in the memory has a free space corresponding to a size of a necessary region to be reserved for execution of a specific application. When determining that the predetermined region does not have the free space, the hardware processor applies a first power-saving mode as a power-saving mode of the auxiliary storage. When determining that the predetermined region has the free space, the hardware processor applies, as the power-saving mode of the auxiliary storage, a second power-saving mode in which less power is consumed than in the first power-saving mode.

The present disclosure relates to an image processing apparatus and an information processing method, and more particular an image processing apparatus including an acceptance unit configured to accept an operation performed on the image processing apparatus, and a controller configured to perform control such that an operation performed on the image processing apparatus is not accepted by the acceptance unit while a service associated with remote assistance is accepted based on an access from an external apparatus.
