SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SELECTIVE SENDING, DELIVERY OR RECEIVING OF FAXES THROUGH COMPUTER BASED NETWORKS BASED ON A DESTINATION ON A PUBLICLY SWITCHED TELEPHONE NETWORK
Embodiment of systems and methods for the sending, delivery or receiving of faxes are disclosed herein. In particular, certain embodiments include a fax connector that may be deployed at users' sites, and a fax registration system that may be deployed remotely from these users' site. The fax connector can be accessed at a user's site over a computer based network in order to perform functions associated with faxing, including sending, receiving and obtaining status on faxes. The fax connector deployed at a sending user's site communicates with the fax registration system to obtain destination data associated with a recipient user's fax connector and transmits the fax to the destination fax connector over the computer based network based on the destination data obtained from the registration system. The fax can then be presented to the recipient at the recipient user's site.

Image forming system, image forming apparatus and program with parameter setting for use in determining abnormalities in scan image
An image forming system includes: an image forming apparatus including an image forming unit for forming an image on a sheet, an image reading unit for reading a sheet surface and generating a scan image, an image inspection unit for detecting abnormalities within the scan image, and a history generating unit for generating detection information of each of the abnormalities and generating a history image by embedding the detection information in the scan image; a storage device for storing the history image; and a user terminal for displaying an abnormality detection result and inputting a user's evaluation of the abnormality detection result, wherein the image forming apparatus further includes a parameter setting unit for finally determining the abnormalities depending on the user's evaluation, and determining and setting abnormality detection parameters such that the abnormalities finally determined are detected, and the abnormalities not finally determined are not detected.
System and method for metallic object detection in a media transport system
A system and method of detecting the presence of metallic objects in media to be conveyed in a medium transport system is disclosed. One or more metal detectors are included in the medium transport system to detect the presence of metal in the medium being transported. Signals from the metal detectors are sent to a system processor, which analyzes the signals, and produces proximity, duration, and/or intensity values therefrom. One or more microphones may also be included which detect the sound created as the medium is being transported. The processor computes sound values from the microphone signals, and analyzes the computed sound values along with the proximity, duration, and/or intensity values in order determine if the conveyance of the medium along the transport path should be stopped due to the presence of metal in the media or a jam occurring within the medium transport path.
Information processing apparatus for analyzing condition of device
An information processing apparatus includes: one or more processors; and one or more memories storing one or more computer programs. The one or more computer programs, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the information processing apparatus to function as: a reception unit configured to receive history information, from a device, indicating an operation history of a predetermined operation in the device; an analysis unit configured to analyze a condition of the device based on the history information in a case where an execution condition is satisfied; and a setting unit configured to set the execution condition, and wherein the setting unit sets the execution condition based on an analysis result by the analysis unit.
Printer status report with encoded image
A method of diagnosing a printer's status using an encoded image printed and/or displayed by the printer. The printer can produce an encoded image, such as a barcode, that indicates status values in one or more categories. A client device with a camera, such as a smartphone, can take a picture of the encoded image and transmit it to a printer status server. The printer status server can analyze the status values encoded in the encoded image to diagnose problems with the printer, and can return applicable user instructions indicating how to fix and/or prevent the problems.
ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND NON-TRANSITORY COMPUTER-READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM
To provide an electronic device that is capable of displaying a warning indication of urging a replacement of a memory at an optimal timing. A system control calculate a warning indication threshold value based on a ratio of a value to a TBW (guaranteed write capacity), the value being a multiplication of a sum of the data write quantity per day that are defined for a for-system partition and a for-each function partition of the SSD and specific days (for example, 3 months) before the sum of write quantities reach the TBW. The system control part, which controls data write on the aforementioned partitions, causes a panel part to display the warning indication of urging a replacement of the SSD when a remaining write capacity of the TBW reaches the warning indication threshold value.
System and method for document transmission and routing with recipient control
Techniques for transmitting information to a recipient under their control are described. In some situations, the techniques are used in conjunction with a fax delivery system to provide, as part of a connection established to perform a fax transmission, a variety of functionalities to a human recipient that is participating as part of the connection, such as when the human recipient is contacted in error. In addition, in some situations, an interactive voice response system is used to receive and interpret input from a human recipient, such as in response to one or more control selections or options provided to the human recipient.
