The image formation control apparatus controls an image forming device to execute image forming on an image forming medium based on input image data by using a plurality of color materials including a plurality of chromatic color materials. An image formation control apparatus comprising: a table generating unit to generate a visibility improvement color table by performing color conversion into intermediate image data, performing histogram equalization processing on a brightness gradation value representing brightness of an image represented by the intermediate image data, and adjusting the brightness gradation value representing brightness of the intermediate image data; and an image formation control unit to generate an image forming job for performing the color conversion using the generated color table to form an image on an image forming medium.
Halftone matrix for use with fine features
A method in described in which image data to be printed and a halftone matrix are provided. The halftone matrix comprises rows having randomized values within alternating ranges of values. The halftone matrix is applied to the image data to generate a plurality of halftone patterns.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR COLOR GAMUT MAPPING
The present principles relate to a method and device for gamut mapping from a first color gamut towards a second color gamut. The method comprises obtaining a preserved key color (prsv_color.sub.K0) and a hue alignment angle (⊖.sub.K0) of the key color (color.sub.K0) for each key color (color.sub.K0) of at least 3 key colors to define a preserved gamut and a rotated gamut; and performing a hue mapping of a current color (color) from the first color gamut towards the second color gamut wherein in case the current color (color) is in a preserved gamut defined by the preserved key color (prsv_color.sub.K0), the hue mapped current color is unchanged, and in case the current color is out of the preserved gamut, the hue mapped current color is calculated from the hue alignment angle (⊖.sub.K0) of two adjacent key colors of the current color (rotated gamut) and from the preserved area.
DECODING AN IMAGE
A method for decoding an image enables to preserve artistic intent at the final rendering stage by adjusting the image to luminance characteristics of the content and of the presentation display that will display the image. Values representative of luminance of both the image and the display device are obtained. Parameters of a display adaptation function are adjusted according to these values and the adjusted display adaptation function is used to decode the image. In at least one embodiment, the adjusted display adaptation function relates to a tone mapping function. Corresponding apparatus implementing the method is also described.

A display device capable of displaying images with wide color gamut is provided. A display device capable of displaying images with wide color gamut and capable of relaxing contrast made by narrow spectra is provided. The display device includes a liquid crystal element and a light-emitting element. Light obtained from the liquid crystal element through a color filter has an NTSC area ratio of more than or equal to 20 percent and less than or equal to 60 percent and light emitted by the light-emitting element has a BT.2020 area ratio of more than or equal to 80 percent and less than or equal to 100 percent.
Color image forming apparatus and color material cartridge
An image forming apparatus is provided, for which a color material cartridge that contains color material and has a storage unit can be attached/detached. The apparatus comprises an obtaining unit that obtains color material information related to a color of the color material stored in the storage unit, a generator that generates a color conversion parameter based on the color material information, and a color convertor that converts the input image signal into a color signal for the color material using the color conversion parameter. If the color material information is not changed, the generator does not generate the color conversion parameter, otherwise the apparatus generates the color conversion parameter based on the color material information after the change.

Certain examples described herein relate to a color processing apparatus and a method of generating configuration data for a color rendering device. The color rendering device operates based on color state instructions indicating output color states for portions of a rendered output. Render data may be generated by applying a halftone matrix and color data may indicate probability values for the output color states for input image areas corresponding to the portions of the rendered output. In described examples, configuration data defines an order of output color states for application of the halftone matrix. In the order, the output color states are grouped within the data based on color properties of a rendered output and an order within the clusters is based on colorant composition.

Methods and systems for dynamic sharing of ICC profiles
Example embodiments relate to dynamic sharing of ICC profiles. A computing device may receive data representing a paper type, a customer precision requirement, and supporting parameters and perform a search of a paper catalog using the data for an existing ICC profile that satisfies the customer precision requirement. Search parameters used during the search of the paper catalog may depend on a level of the customer precision requirement. Responsive to identifying an ICC profile during the search of the paper catalog that satisfies the customer precision requirement and can be used by the printer make and model associated with the original request, the computing device may transmit the ICC profile to the requesting printer via a network. In some instances, the computing device may determine the paper catalog lacks an ICC profile that satisfies the customer precision requirement and transmit an indication that no existing ICC profile is available.
