COLOR GAMUT MAPPING DEVICE, TUNING METHOD THEREOF, AND IMAGE PROCESSOR

The disclosure relates to a color gamut mapping device that allows a gamma characteristic for each color to be tuned to match a target gamma curve through color gamut mapping, a tuning method thereof, and an image processor including the same. The color gamut mapping device controls a hue and saturation of an image signal to match a target color gamut using a hue parameter assigned to each of a plurality of hue axes and a saturation parameter assigned to correspond to each of a plurality of saturation control areas of each hue axis, and the color gamut mapping device changes the saturation of the image signal by changing the saturation parameter which is assigned to each hue axis and corresponds to the uppermost saturation control area so that a gamma characteristic for each color of the image signal is changed to match a target gamma curve for each color.

Dynamic generation of custom color selections

A computer system for dynamic generation of custom color selections receives from a user an indication of a target color. The computer system also identifies a location of the target color within a mathematically-defined color space. The computer system identifies a location of a second color within the mathematically-defined color space. Additionally, the computer system generates a first golden triangle within the mathematically-defined color space. The location of the target color comprises a first vertex of the first golden triangle. The location of the second color comprises a second vertex of the first golden triangle. A location of a third color comprises a third vertex of the first golden triangle. The computer system then displays on a user interface an indication of the target color, the second color, and the third color.

The present disclosure relates to a color gamut mapping method and a color gamut mapping device. A color gamut mapping method may include converting, by a color space converter, first three-color signals into a first luminance component and a pair of first chrominance components and outputting the first luminance component and the pair of first chrominance components, controlling, by a saturation controller, a saturation of the first chrominance component for each control area using a saturation gain of the saturation controller and outputting a second chrominance component, controlling, by a hue controller, a hue of the second chrominance component for each control area and outputting a third chrominance component, interpolating, by an overall controller, a set value of a luminance gain using grayscale differences between the first three-color signals, outputting a second luminance component by controlling first luminance component using the interpolated luminance gain.

COLOR GAMUT MAPPING METHOD AND DEVICE

The present disclosure relates to a color gamut mapping method and a color gamut mapping device that allow precise color gamut tuning to be efficiently performed, and a display device including the same. A color gamut mapping method according to an aspect includes converting, by a color space converter, a first color signal of an input image into a first luminance component and a pair of first chrominance components, controlling, by a saturation controller, a saturation of the first chrominance component for each control area using a saturation gain and outputting a second chrominance component, controlling, by a hue controller, a hue of the second chrominance component for each control area and outputting a third chrominance component, entirely controlling, by an overall controller, a saturation and a hue of the third chrominance component using overall saturation gains and overall hue gains and outputting a fourth chrominance component, and inversely converting.

Image processing apparatus, image processing method, and non-transitory computer-readable medium

An image processing apparatus comprises: an obtaining unit that obtains a luminance of an input image having a color reproduction range wider than that of a printing apparatus; a conversion unit that performs, for the input image, conversion processing of obtaining a value included in the color reproduction range of the printing apparatus and obtaining the luminance of the image after the conversion; and a correction unit that corrects the luminance of the input image, wherein the correction unit performs correction of the luminance of the input image based on a conversion characteristic between the obtained luminance and the obtained luminance such that an intensity of the correction becomes higher for a color that is not included in the color reproduction range of the printing apparatus than for a color included in the color reproduction range of the printing apparatus.

COLOR SPACE CONVERSION

Certain examples relate to converting between color spaces. A digital representation of an input color is pre-processed to convert the digital representation into a multidimensional node representing a region in the input color space and a set of adjustment values. The multidimensional node is mapped to a digital representation of an output color. The digital representation of the output color is adjusted using the set of adjustment values.

Decoding an image

A method for decoding an image enables to preserve artistic intent at the final rendering stage by adjusting the image to luminance characteristics of the content and of the presentation display that will display the image. Values representative of luminance of both the image and the display device are obtained. Parameters of a display adaptation function are adjusted according to these values and the adjusted display adaptation function is used to decode the image. In at least one embodiment, the adjusted display adaptation function relates to a tone mapping function. Corresponding apparatus implementing the method is also described.

COLOR TABLE GENERATION

Target color table generated from source color tables. A first significance factor is assigned to a first node in a first source color table. The first node in the first source color table corresponds with a color input in a first color space and provides a first print substance formulation in a second color space. A second significance factor is assigned to a second node in a second source color table. The second node in the second source color table corresponds with the color input in the first color space and provides a second print substance formulation in the second color space. A third node in target color table is generated from the first and second nodes based on the first and second significance factors. The third node corresponds with the color input in the first color space and provides a third print substance formulation in the second color space.

COLOR TABLES

A color table is modulated. The color table includes nodes that correspond with a color input in a first color space and provides a print substance formulation in a second color space. For a set of the nodes, a determination is made as to whether a color amount based on the print substance formulation is outside of threshold value. For each node in which the color amount for the node is outside the threshold value, the print substance formulation is replaced with a replacement print substance formulation having a color amount that is within the threshold value.
