OPTIMIZED FACIAL ILLUMINATION FROM ADAPTIVE SCREEN CONTENT

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to adjusting an illumination of a user depicted in one or more images when using a video conferencing application. In one example, one or more images depicting the user may be received from an image sensor. Further, an illumination of the user depicted in the one or more images may be determined to be unsatisfactory. For example, the user's face may be too bright or too dim. Accordingly, content displayed at a display device may identified and then modified. The modified content may then be rendered to a display device thereby changing the illumination of the user depicted in subsequent images. In examples, the modified content may include a graphical element, such as a ring of a specific color at least partially surrounding content rendered to and displayed at the display device.

This invention provides a system and method for utilizing a wireless, handheld communication device to image a scene in multiple directions, so as to include multiple parties in addition to the user, and also, optionally, to project images on a plurality of display screens—for example a user-facing screen on the front face of the phone and an opposing screen on the rear/back face of the phone that faces (e.g.) a chat participant other than the user (an audience). The housing of the smartphone is adapted to provide a multi-camera and multi-screen arrangement. More particularly, the housing of the smartphone is adapted to include (at least) a front-directed camera and a rear-directed camera on respective front and rear faces, and openings along the left and right side edges for small-scale cameras and associated protective windows that are directed to image the left and right areas adjacent to the phone.

Electronic device with rotatable camera for protecting privacy

An electronic device is provided, which includes a body, a camera module, at least one sensor, and a processor. The camera module is rotatably disposed on the body. The sensor is disposed in the electronic device for generating an environmental sensing signal. The processor is electrically connected to the camera module and the sensor. The processor loads and executes an application to perform: generating a display image; controlling the camera module to capture a face image and combining the face image and the display image into a live stream image when a show face function of the application is activated; and when the electronic device is in the live stream mode and the processor determines that an environment dynamic change occurs according to the environmental sensing signal, the processor transmits a notification signal to the application to notify the application to close the show face function.

Augmented-reality game overlays in video communications

In one embodiment, a method includes, by a client system of a first user, receiving a request from a second user to initiate a first game within a first layer of a communication interface, wherein the communication interface includes several layers, wherein a first layer includes a video communication of the second user, and wherein a second layer of the communication interface includes a thumbnail view of a video communication of the first user; generating a first game container in a third layer of the communication interface, wherein the third layer contains the first game in an augmented reality overlay; expanding the second layer into a full-screen view within the communication interface; and displaying the third layer as the augmented reality overlay over the second layer, wherein the first layer is closed responsive to the overlaying of the augmented reality overlay onto the second layer.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONALITY TO EXISTING SOFTWARE IN AN INTEGRATED MANNER

An improved system and method are disclosed for improving functionality in software applications. In one example, the method includes a computing entity having a network interface, a processor, and a memory configured to store a plurality of instructions. The instructions include instructions for a superblock application having instructions for a function block included therein. The function block is configured to provide functions that are accessible to the superblock application via an application programming interface (API). The functions are provided within the superblock application itself and are accessible within the superblock application without switching context to another application on the computing entity.
