Determining Popularity Ratings Using Social and Interactive Applications for Mass Media
20170366847 · 2017-12-21 · ·

Systems, methods, devices, and computer program products provide social and interactive applications for mass media based on real time ambient-audio and/or video identification. In some implementations, a method includes: receiving descriptors identifying ambient audio associated with a media broadcast; comparing the descriptors to one or more reference descriptors; and determining a rating for the media broadcast based at least in part on the results of the comparison.

DISPLAY APPARATUS FOR RECEIVING REMOTE CONTROL SIGNAL AND OUTPUTTING CONVERTED REMOTE CONTROL SIGNAL, AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

Disclosed is a display apparatus capable of receiving a remote control signal from a remote controller for a different apparatus and outputting a converted remote control signal and a control method thereof, the display apparatus including: a display configured to display an image; a communicator comprising communication circuitry; a signal receiver configured to receive a remote control signal from among a plurality of remote controllers respectively corresponding to a plurality of external apparatuses; and a controller configured to perform a function corresponding to an image displayed on the display in response to a command included in the received remote control signal, or to control the communicator to transmit the command to an external apparatus selected corresponding to the image displayed on the display from among the plurality of external apparatuses. Thus, the display apparatus receives a remote control signal from a remote controller for controlling an external apparatus, and uses the received remote control signal to directly perform a function or transmit a command to an apparatus desired to be controlled by a user, thereby allowing the user to easily use the remote controller.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PAGING USING BEAMFORMING IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
20170366236 · 2017-12-21 ·

The present disclosure relates to a system and communication technique of fusing a 5G communication system supporting higher data transmission rate than a 4G system with an IoT technology. The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services (e.g., smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car or connected car, health care, digital education, retail business, security and safety related service, or the like). According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a method for paging using beamforming by a base station in a wireless communication system may include: determining a paging option for a terminal based on at least one of whether a cell is in a dormant mode, information on a number of terminals within the cell, or traffic load information of the cell, notifying the terminal of information on the determined paging option, and performing a paging operation on the terminal based on the determined paging option.

METHOD, SYSTEM AND COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT FOR DISTRIBUTED VIDEO EDITING
20230197113 · 2023-06-22 ·

A network editor comprises a central location with stored videos such as movies that can be edited by editors at remote locations. An editor receives a representation of a video and specifies edits relative to the representation, enabling the editor to use a device lacking sufficient processing capability to edit the video directly, and also reducing the volume of information transmitted between the central location and the remote editor. The central location is able to provide the edited movie in a format suitable to the display capabilities of the viewing device of the viewer requesting the edited video.

MOVIE ADVERTISING PLAYBACK SYSTEMS AND METHODS

An ad in a movie can be a static ad having a position in the movie that cannot be moved, or a dynamic ad having a position in the movie that can be changed. When a viewer wishes to skip a portion of the movie containing the ad, the playback system determines whether the ad is static or dynamic. If the ad is static, only the portion of the movie preceding the static ad can be skipped; the ad is unskippable. This technique is referred to as “bounceback” since the end of the skip bounces back to the start of the static ad. If the ad is dynamic, it is moved to after the end of the skip. This technique is referred to as “slip-ad” since the ad slips to later in the movie. When a movie has multiple ads, some can be static and some can be dynamic.

System and method for implementing an ad management system for an extensible media player

In a method and system for creating an extensible media player, a multimedia player application is instantiated on a client system. A presentation data file is transmitted to the client system from a server. The presentation data file includes a playlist of timelines, with at least one multimedia file being played or at least one application being executed for each timeline. The presentation data file is parsed to activate an advertising manager module. The activated advertising manager module instantiates an advertising plug-in. The advertising plug-in connects to an advertising network and downloads select advertising policies and dynamically schedules advertisements for the timelines. Upon the occurrence of an event generated by a timeline, the advertising manager module inserts a blocking module to block execution of the timeline. An advertisement is dynamically retrieved and rendered in an advertising display overlaying a multimedia player application display. When the advertisement has concluded, execution of the timeline is resumed.

Generating a three-dimensional model using a portable electronic device recording
09842429 · 2017-12-12 · ·

Systems and methods are provided for navigating a three-dimensional model using deterministic movement of an electronic device. An electronic device can load and provide an initial display of a three dimensional model (e.g., of an environment or of an object). As the user moves the electronic device, motion sensing components can detect the device movement and adjust the displayed portion of the three-dimensional model to reflect the movement of the device. By walking with the device in the user's real environment, a user can virtually navigate a representation of a three-dimensional environment. In some embodiments, a user can record an object or environment using an electronic device, and tag the recorded images or video with movement information describing the movement of the device during the recording. The recorded information can then be processed with the movement information to generate a three-dimensional model of the recorded environment or object.

Surveillance video playback method, device, and system

The surveillance video playback method includes receiving, by a video surveillance management device, a surveillance video browsing request from a client device, and performing, according to the request, authentication on a user that sends the surveillance video browsing request using the client device; if the user that sends the surveillance video browsing request has permission to view collected data, sending a first link address corresponding to the user request to the client device; and sending video data and the collected data to the client device according to a data request that carries the first link address and is returned by the client device, so that the client device can superimpose the collected data on the video data and then play them.

TERMINAL APPARATUS AND COMMUNICATION METHOD
20170353697 · 2017-12-07 ·

Control circuitry in a terminal apparatus generates one or more groups, each group including a selected plurality of communication methods whose total value of specific absorption rates (SARs) is equal to or less than a threshold value, and generates group information indicating the one or more groups. N transmitters transmit transmission data to a plurality of communication stations that respectively support the plurality of communication methods included in one group that is indicated by the group information, by using corresponding communication methods.

System for addressing on-demand TV program content on TV services platform of a digital TV services provider
11516525 · 2022-11-29 · ·

Video content is uploaded via the Internet to a video-on-demand (VOD) server identified by a title and a hierarchical address of categories and subcategories for categorizing the title. The VOD server converts and stores the video content at a storage address in a video content database linked to the title. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as in its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. This can enable many new blogging or podcasting-like programs by popular “Hosts” to be self-published on the Internet and readily navigated for display on TV. The EPG can also store TV program addresses as bookmarks and allow them to be shared with other subscribers or with friends and contacts online by sending to their email addresses.
