A camera system processes images based on image activity data. The camera system includes an image sensor, an image pipeline, an encoder and a memory. The image sensor converts light incident upon the image sensor into raw image data. The image pipeline converts raw image data into color-space image data and calculates activity variances of the color-space image data. The encoder can determine one or more of quantization levels, block type (Intra vs Inter), determining transform size and type, and determining GOP structure or reference frame spacing for the color-space image data based on the activity variances. The memory stores the color-space image data and the activity variances.
360 DEGREE VIDEO RECORDING AND PLAYBACK WITH OBJECT TRACKING
In a system for 360 degree video capture and playback, 360 degree video may be captured, stitched, encoded, decoded, rendered, and played-back. In one or more implementations, a decoding device receives a 360 degree video stream as input and decodes the 360 degree video stream, and a memory device stores the 360 degree video stream and viewing history data associated with the 360 degree video stream. A rendering device may render the decoded stream using view angles from the viewing history data. In one or more implementations, an object tracking device tracks one or more objects in the decoded 360 degree video stream and provides one or more tracking angles associated with the objects. The rendering device may render the decoded 360 degree video stream using the one or more tracking angles to keep at least one object in the 360 degree video stream for one or more rendered frames.
Camera system, camera body, and communication method for acquiring lens information
A camera system, a camera body, and a communication method capable of satisfactorily acquiring lens information necessary for image processing or the like for a frame of a video from an interchangeable lens are provided. Three-wire serial communication is performed in which a request signal is transmitted to the interchangeable lens in synchronization with a synchronization signal (VSYNC) of an imaging element in a video recording mode, and a response signal is received from the interchangeable lens. In a communication mode in the video recording mode, the number of transmissions of a first request signal relating to acquisition of lens information such as a focus position, a diaphragm value, and a zoom position is limited. Accordingly, communication other than communication relating to acquisition of lens information can be performed in a period of one frame.

Automatic playback overshoot correction system
An automatic playback overshoot correction system predicts the position in the program material where the user expects to be when the user stops the fast forward progression of the program material. The system determines the position where the program material was stopped and transitions to the new mode that the user selected, starting at the stopped position with an overshoot correction factor subtracted from it. The system uses a prediction method to correctly place the user within the program upon transition out of fast forward mode and determines if the speed of the fast forward mode and then automatically subtracts a time multiple to the frame where the transition was detected and positions the user at the correct frame. The time multiple is fine tuned if the user is consistently correcting after the fast forward mode stops.
Systems and methods for managing video transmission and storage
Embodiments described herein provide systems and methods for managing quality level of video transmission and storage. In a particular embodiment, a method provides receiving a video at a received quality level in a video storage system and determining a characteristic of the video. The method further provides determining whether the characteristic satisfies a criteria and, if the characteristic satisfies the criteria, storing the video at a quality level associated with the criteria.
