Band steering for a low power device

An access point is configured to communicate with a wireless client device over a plurality of wireless communication channels. The wireless client device has an active operation state and a standby operation state. The access point detects a property of each of a first wireless communication channel and a second wireless communication channel, and applies a policy to the detected properties to select one of the first wireless communication channel and the second wireless communication channel. While the wireless client device is in the active operation state, the access point steers the client device to communicate with the access point over the selected channel.

Method and apparatus of neural network based processing in video coding

A method and apparatus of video coding incorporating Deep Neural Network are disclosed. A target signal is processed using DNN (Deep Neural Network), where the target signal provided to DNN input corresponds to the reconstructed residual, output from the prediction process, the reconstruction process, one or more filtering processes, or a combination of them. The output data from DNN output is provided for the encoding process or the decoding process. The DNN can be used to restore pixel values of the target signal or to predict a sign of one or more residual pixels between the target signal and an original signal. An absolute value of one or more residual pixels can be signalled in the video bitstream and used with the sign to reduce residual error of the target signal.

Intelligent video frame dropping for improved digital video flow control over a crowded wireless network
11350142 · 2022-05-31 · ·

A device, system and method for intelligently dropping frames in a congested wireless network. Video frames from a video encoder may be received and queued in an ordered sequence of outgoing video frames in a transmission queue to be transmitted as data packets by a wireless communication circuit. When network congestion is detected, a relative contextual importance level of an incoming frame received from the video input channel may be compared relative to at least one frame in the transmission queue. The compared frame that has a lower relative contextual importance level may be dropped or omitted from the transmission queue, thereby transmitting data packets of the frames in the transmission queue without the dropped or omitted frames.

ADAPTIVE TRANSCODING OF PROFILE LADDER FOR VIDEOS

In some embodiments, a method analyzes content of a video to generate a representation for a video that represents a relationship of a bitrate to a quality measurement for the video. A plurality of candidate points on the representation are selected. Then, the method selects a profile ladder from at least a portion of the plurality of candidate points. Each profile in the profile ladder is associated with a candidate point and the profile includes a corresponding bitrate and a quality measurement for the respective candidate point. The profile ladder is used for the video.

A method and system are provided for streaming a video game from a server to a client. One example system includes the server configured to generate video frames for the video game responsive to input received from the client. An encoder that processes the video frames to generate compressed video frames and storing past encoder states in memory associated with the encoder. The server is configured to transmit the compressed video frames to the client. The server is configured to receive a feedback signal from the client to determine when one or more of the compressed video frames that were sent were not been received by the client. The encoder is configured to generate one or more next video frames as compressed video frames that are dependent on compressed video frames that are known to have been successfully received based on the feedback signal.
