A capsule adapter (1) is described, for use in a beverage producing machine. The capsule adapter comprises: a capsule receptacle (3) for housing a capsule (C) and having an apertured bottom wall (3B); a first piercer (19) arranged in the capsule receptacle (3); a cover (5) for closing the capsule receptacle (3), the cover having at least one water-inlet port (37); a second piercer (27) arranged on the cover (5). The capsule adapter is configured for being introduced in a brewing chamber of a beverage producing machine, with a capsule housed therein.

Disclosed is a system for producing a beverage, in particular a cold beverage, comprising a cartridge that has a reservoir filled with a beverage substance, a beverage preparation unit with a cartridge receptacle into which the cartridge can be reversibly inserted, and a cartridge discharge device which causes at least partial transfer of the beverage substance from the reservoir into a mixing chamber; furthermore, the beverage preparation unit comprises a fluid supply which opens into the mixing chamber, or the system includes a movable plunger which is placed inside the reservoir and can be transferred from a starting position into a final position by means of the cartridge discharge device.

A beverage preparation machine includes a capsule holder for holding a capsule, a fluid conduction system, a brewing head having an aperture for receiving the capsule holder, and an injection support connected to the fluid conduction system, an injection plate supported by the support, including an upper surface connected to the fluid conduction system through the support. The injection plate includes at least one channel independent from the fluid conducting channel connecting its upper and lower surfaces, the channel being suitable for circulating fluid at least from the lower surface towards the upper surface of the injection plate, the channel further including at least one piercing element having a base attached to the injection plate and an apex directed towards the lower surface of the injection plate.

The invention relates to a beverage production device for preparing a beverage by means of extracting a food substance contained in a capsule (10), the device comprising capsule enclosing means (29,30) for housing a dedicated capsule (10) within the device, water supply means (25,27,28,29) for providing liquid to the enclosing means (29,30) and perforating means (20) provided within the enclosing means (29,30) for perforating the capsule (10) in order to produce outlet openings in the capsule for guiding the produced beverage out of the capsule, wherein the perforating means comprise at least two perforating members (20), each of the perforating members (20) comprising a cutting edge (1) formed by two outer cutting surfaces (2,3) joined at the cutting edge, wherein the cutting edge (1) is arranged essentially parallel to a central axis (X) of the enclosing means (29,30).

A capsule that contains at least one ingredient for preparing an edible product by flowing water therethrough includes a water-inlet wall and a product-outlet wall. The product-outlet wall has at least a first, pierceable wall portion, and a second, pierceable wall portion. The second wall portion is recessed with respect to the first wall portion. The product-outlet wall is asymmetrical with respect to a longitudinal axis of symmetry of the capsule.

The invention relates to a system, method and capsule for preparing a predetermined quantity of beverage suitable for consumption using an extractable product. The system comprises an exchangeable capsule, and an apparatus comprising a receptacle for holding the exchangeable capsule, and a fluid dispensing device for supplying a fluid to the exchangeable capsule. The exchangeable capsule comprises a circumferential wall, a bottom, and a lid. The wall, bottom and lid enclose an inner space comprising the extractable product. The receptacle comprises bottom piercing means intended for piercing an entrance area of an alternative capsule for creating at least one entrance opening for supplying the fluid to the extractable product. The entrance area of the capsule according to the invention comprises an entrance filter for supplying the fluid to the extractable product there through. In use, the entrance filter is positioned at a distance from the bottom piercing means, such that the capsule of the system is not pierced by the bottom piercing means.

The coffee maker for brewing powder coffee contained in a cartridge comprises a brewing chamber adapted to receive the cartridge, at least one punching member for punching the cartridge and a pump for feeding brewing water into the brewing chamber. In order to avoid that the prepared coffee shows froth at its surface, the coffee maker comprises means for restricting the amount of water fed by the pump into the brewing chamber per unit of time. This means ensures that the brewing water flows through the cartridge essentially unpressurized.

An apparatus for releasing an ingredient from a capsule is disclosed. The apparatus has a stud plate which comprises a set of openings for receiving capsule contents as pressurized jets. A jet shaping unit is downstream of the stud plate and has a set of one or more jet shaping elements. A jet shaping element is associated with a set of one or more of the openings of the stud plate. This reduces a flow velocity of the pressurized jets, and thereby prevents jets generating bubbles which could otherwise decrease the smoothness of the delivered capsule contents.

The present disclosure relates to a beverage capsule for use in a brewed beverage machine including a piercing element, the capsule comprising: a container defining an interior volume including a base configured for being perforated upon contact with a piercing element; a filter assembly disposed in the interior volume and dividing the interior volume into a first chamber for receiving beverage ingredients and a brewing medium and a second chamber, the assembly comprising: a filter element; and a registration element disposed above the filter element and configured for disposing the filter assembly into the container, wherein the filter element separates the registration element from the second chamber and is arranged to be contacted and pierced by the piercing element.

A machine for preparing a beverage from a capsule includes a capsule extraction seat, an inlet arrangement for guiding water into the seat and a dispensing arrangement for guiding beverage out of the seat. The dispensing arrangement has a face delimiting a downstream part of the seat, the face bearing one or more raised elements that project upstream and that are configured for forming one or more beverage outlet openings in the outlet membrane of the capsule in the seat. The raised element(s) are fixed relative to or integral with the face and include at least one controllable raised element. The face is associated with an opening control arrangement configured to control the formation of the outlet opening(s) in the outlet membrane by the controllable raised element. The opening control arrangement has at least one neutralizing member that is movable between an operative position and a rest position.
