Remote media streaming
A redirection device for remote streaming media reroutes media content sent to the receiving device, typically located in the home of the subscriber, to the subscriber's mobile device such as a laptop or smartphone. Remote media streaming provides media recipients with capabilities for out-of-home (OOH) viewing for remotely rendering media content from a subscriber based receiving device to a personal electronic device. The remote streaming redirects media that has already been received by the subscription based receiving device, such that the redirection device forwards a rendering signal including the requested content to the rendering device based on the reported location. The redirected media stream therefore emanates from the redirection device as an independent transmission of content already received by the receiving device, and not as a separate transmission of media content from the content provider.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR INTEGRATED STACKING FOR HANDLING CHANNEL STACKING OR BAND STACKING
A satellite reception assembly may include a housing configured to support receipt and handling of a plurality of satellite signals. The housing may include circuitry incorporating integrated stacking architecture for supporting and/or providing channel and/or band stacking whereby particular channels or bands, from multiple satellite signals that are received via the satellite reception assembly, may be combined onto a single output signal that may be communicated from the satellite reception assembly to a gateway device for concurrent distribution thereby to a plurality of client devices serviced by the gateway device.
Pairing a set-top box and personal computing device using a visual code
Embodiments are configured in part to pair or associate a portable or personal computing device with a set-top box (STB) to enable use of the paired device with an associated STB. Processing of a displayed visual code can be used to establish a pairing relationship and allow a paired STB to process navigation, control, and/or other commands from a paired device.
Premises monitoring system
This invention relates generally to computer systems, and more specifically, to a premise monitoring system. In one embodiment, the invention includes operations of receiving one or more signals containing a device identifier and a device condition from one or more remote alarm monitoring systems; retrieving enhanced information based on the device identifier and/or the device condition; determining one or more communication methods and/or communication destinations based on the device identifier and/or the device condition; and dispatching the enhanced information to the one or more communication destinations using the one or more communication methods.
System for controlling access to an account
An account management server, a communication device and a service device are provided for managing access to an account. The account management server, for example, includes, but is not limited to, a storage device configured to store identifying information for each of a plurality of service devices and configured to store an account associated with each of the plurality of service devices, and a processor communicatively coupled to the storage device, wherein the processor is configured to: receive identifying information from a communication device; identify at least one service device whose stored identifying information matches the received identifying information; and grant management access to the account associated with the identified at least one service device to the communication device.
GATEWAY DEVICE AND SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USE OF SAME
A gateway device and system and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, multiple wireless transceivers are located within a housing, which also interconnectively includes a processor and memory. To improve convenience, the gateway device may establish a pairing with a proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device having a display. Virtual remote control functionality for various amenities may then be provided. To improve safety, the gateway device may be incorporated into a geolocation and safety network.
Methods of using proxy IP addresses and redirection for cross-device actions
A profile provider: (i) associates a primary online device (OD1) with a set-top box (STB); (ii) a location of OD1 at some point in time is estimated to be “near” the STB, thereby establishing a STB proxy location; (iii) one or more secondary online devices (OD2s) are observed to be located “near” the STB proxy location and are associated with the STB; and (iv) a television advertisement is selected to be directed to the STB, which selection is based at least in part on profile information linked to one of the associated OD2s. The method can be particularly advantageous in situations wherein: the STB is not connected to any computer network; the STB is not ever connected to the same local area network as OD1 or OD2; or television service (used by the STB) and online access (used by OD1 and OD2s) are provided by different service providers.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MANAGING THE OPERATING MODE OF A DEVICE COMPRISING MEANS FOR TRANSFERRING AN AUDIOVISUAL SOURCE AND MEANS FOR REPRODUCING AN AUDIO SIGNAL IN AN AUDIOVISUAL SYSTEM
A method and a device for managing the operating mode of a device includes transferring an audiovisual source and reproducing an audio signal, the device being connected to a television set of an HDMI connection. A device: attributes to itself an audiovisual source logic address, sends a request for obtaining the version of the HDMI specification of the television set, operates in an adapted operating mode if the version of the HDMI specification implemented by the television set is lower than a version of the HDMI 2.0 specification, attributes to itself an audio system logic address, sends a request for obtaining the version of the HDMI specification of the television set, operates in an operating mode according to the HDMI specification version HDMI 2.0 if the television set has responded to each request, and operates in the adapted operating mode if the television set has not responded to each request.
Multimedia Resource Playing Method, Apparatus, Terminal, and System
A multimedia playing method includes obtaining, by a terminal, an identifier of a playback device, determining, by the terminal, a multimedia resource category based on a correspondence between the identifier and the multimedia resource category, playing, by the terminal, via the playback device, a multimedia resource corresponding to the category. When the terminal is connected to different playback devices, the terminal may play multimedia resources of different categories via the playback devices based on identifiers of the playback devices, to implement an intelligent service of the terminal.
Intelligent Remote Control
A content access device and system may allow portable remote devices to be paired with a variety of different devices, allowing remote control through a network connection. Content access devices may expose application program interfaces, allowing incoming network traffic to control operation of the device much in the same way that a local infrared remote would. Routing content commands through an external application server may also yield other benefits, such as allowing more customized selection of information and advertising content to users based on their viewing history.
