A terminal device acquires a part of an audio-visual content regenerated by a video display apparatus. The terminal device acquires contents information of the audio-visual content based on the part of the audio-visual content. The terminal device acquires the available enhanced service based on the contents information and regenerates the available enhanced service.

A method of operating a video services receiver involves the processing of video data for presentation on a display element associated with the video services receiver. During presentation of the video event, a screenshot command is received at the video services receiver. The screenshot command originates from a remote control device assigned to the video services receiver. In response to receiving the screenshot command, a currently displayed image on the display element is captured as a saved screenshot. The method continues by providing a screenshot sharing user interface for presentation on the display element. The user interface includes at least one interactive control to facilitate sharing of the saved screenshot from the video services receiver. The method continues by outputting the saved screenshot from the video services receiver in association with a selected sharing application.

An adaptor is provided for a games console which allows users to gain access to interactive television services through the games console. The adaptor includes a television tuner for receiving broadcast television channels, a communications controller which controls communications between the adaptor and the games console and an interface for interfacing the adaptor to the games console. In example embodiments, a system and method for managing switching between devices are provided. A consolidated catalog of applications available on devices coupled to a master device is maintained. The consolidated catalog of applications is graphically presented on a screen controlled by the master device. A selection of an application from the consolidated catalog of applications is received via a control device. Based on the selected application being located at a device coupled to the master device, input is automatically switched from the master device to the device having the selected application. As a result, a display corresponding to the selected application is presented on the screen.

A multimedia visual progress indication system that provides a cache bar that is overlaid onto the program material or displayed on a dedicated display. A cache bar indicates the length of a recording session or the length of stored program material and expands to the right when material is being recorded. Index and/or bookmark indicators are displayed next to the cache bar. A position indicator moves within the cache bar and tells the user visually where his current position is within the program material. Numeric time or counter mark of the current position is displayed in the vicinity of the cache bar. The trick play bar and its associated components are displayed for a predetermined time period.

Systems and methods for performing user accommodations are described. An exemplary system may include an electronic device configured to receive audiovisual content and/or user inputs. The electronic device may further include one or more processors as well as memory, which when executed by the one or more processors, cause them to perform one or more locating functions to locate one or more users of the electronic device, and determine a level of interaction for the one or more users based at least in part on the location. The one or more processors may further be caused to perform at least one accommodation function based at least in part on the determined level of interaction for the one or more users or location of the one or more users.

Processing methods and systems for multi-display. The implementations may include establishing, by a computing device, a connection between a controlling terminal and an accessory display device. The computing device may receive activity ID information of a current presentation from the controlling terminal using the established connection, establish a mapping between the current presentation and the accessory display device based on the activity ID information, and transmit a presentation content associated with the current presentation to the accessory display device for display based on the mapping.

In some aspects, control circuitry detects a plurality of instances in which the number of requests to simultaneously stream media from a subscription service to different devices exceeds a number of streams available to the user from the subscription service. The control circuitry generates a plurality of timestamps corresponding to the plurality of instances, and compares each timestamp to a range of timestamps that corresponds to a subscription period for the subscription service in order to determine a number of instances that occurred during the subscription period. The control circuitry compares the number of instances that occurred during the subscription period to a threshold number for the subscription period. Control circuitry transmits a message, from the server to one of the different devices, if the threshold is exceeded.

Provided is a mobile information terminal that performs data transmission and reception, the data transmission and reception including video data reception. The mobile information terminal includes a communication management execution module that obtains a communication amount of data transmitted and received by the mobile information terminal in a predetermined period, and a remote viewing execution module that compares the obtained communication amount to a preset predetermined value and makes an image quality of the video data selectable according to a relationship between the obtained communication amount and the predetermined value.

A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method for receiving a controllability indicator at a portable communication device, the controllability indicator received from a stationary communication device. The controllability indicator indicates whether a trickplay feature is available for controlling a presentation of multimedia content, and is determined from a characterization of the multimedia content. The method further includes presenting a trickplay indicator at the portable communication device according to the controllability indicator to indicate whether the trickplay feature is available.
