A system and method is disclosed to transmit electronic information to a user of a step-top box. The system includes a database that stores user registration and product information data. A set-top box is also provided that communicates with a remote controller with a touch screen and a server broadcasts the product information data to a plurality of set-top boxes for display on touch screens of remote controller communicating with the set-top boxes, respectively, without the product information being designated for a specific user of one set-top box. The server also transmits updated product information data that replaces a portion of the original product information data. Furthermore, a processor compares data relating to a transaction request from a user of one set-top box with user registration data stored in the database to identify the user, and that generates customized transaction data that is transmitted to the identified user.

Mechanisms for presenting media content items using multiple devices are provided. In some embodiments, methods for presenting media content are provided that include: detecting an offer to initiate a purchase of a content item being presented using the media device, wherein the media device has not been authenticated with a content service that provides the content item; in response to detecting the offer to initiate the purchase of the content item when the media device has not been authenticated with the content service that provides the content item, causing the media device to be discoverable by one or more mobile devices that are connected to a same local area network as the media device; encoding offer data corresponding to the detected offer to initiate the purchase of the content item; in response to receiving a status request from a mobile device that is connected to the same local area network as the media device, transmitting the encoded offer data associated with the purchase of the content item to the mobile device, wherein the encoded offer data causes a payment user interface to be presented on the mobile device; receiving a cast request from the mobile device to cast the content item on the media device; and in response to the cast request, executing a receiver application on the media device that accepts the cast request from the mobile device and causes the content item to be presented using the media device.

Mechanisms for presenting media content items using multiple devices are provided. One aspect of this disclosure relates to a computer-implemented methods computers and messages for displaying a form associated with a video. The method comprises a number of steps. One step comprises transmitting at least one request message to a server system. The at least one request message comprises a video identifier and a form identifier. The video identifier indicates video information required for playing said video and the form identifier indicates form information required for displaying a form, e.g. an HTML form, associated with the video. Furthermore, the form information comprises a time indication defining a time in the video. Another step of the method comprises receiving at least one response message from the server system. The at least one response message comprises the video information and the form information. The method further comprises displaying the video using the video information. As one step, the method comprises, preferably while displaying the video, determining that the video reaches the time defined by said time indication. In response to this determination, the method comprises displaying the form.

One aspect of this disclosure relates to a computer-implemented methods computers and messages for displaying a form associated with a video. The method comprises a number of steps. One step comprises transmitting at least one request message to a server system. The at least one request message comprises a video identifier and a form identifier. The video identifier indicates video information required for playing said video and the form identifier indicates form information required for displaying a form, e.g. an HTML form, associated with the video. Furthermore, the form information comprises a time indication defining a time in the video. Another step of the method comprises receiving at least one response message from the server system. The at least one response message comprises the video information and the form information. The method further comprises displaying the video using the video information. As one step, the method comprises, preferably while displaying the video, determining that the video reaches the time defined by said time indication. In response to this determination, the method comprises displaying the form.
