To avoid damage from overheating, playback device operation can be modulated based on input from temperature sensors. An example method includes obtaining, via one or more temperature sensors carried by the playback device, temperature data. Based on the temperature data, a first temperature parameter is detected. In response to detecting the first temperature parameter, a gain of audio playback is decreased by a first amount. After decreasing the gain of audio playback by the first amount, a second temperature parameter is detected. In response to detecting the second temperature parameter, the gain of audio playback is decreased by a second amount different than the first amount.

Techniques are disclosed for predictive media streaming using microlocation. Microlocations of a mobile device can be determined by measuring one or more sensor values at one or more times, the one or more sensor values are determined from one or more signals emitted by a corresponding one or more signal sources. Streaming events can be stored at the mobile device. Each streaming event may include a destination device for playing media and a cluster location, the cluster location corresponding to sensor values that are spatially near each other. A selection of a media item is detected and one or more current sensor values are measured. A current cluster location can be identified using the one or more current sensor value. The current cluster location and the streaming events can identify a particular destination device for playing the selected media item.

A television and system and method for providing a remote control device are disclosed. In one embodiment of the television, the television includes a processor, a memory, a tuner, a panel, and an audio driver therein in an interconnected architecture. The television may establish a pairing with a proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device, such as a proximate wireless-enabled interactive handheld device having a touch screen display, whereby formatted parallel audiovisual experience instructions, including virtual buttons, may be transmitted to the proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device for display on the touch screen display to create an experience parallel to the experience on the television. The television receives and processes virtual remote control functionality input instructions from the proximate wireless-enabled interactive programmable device to control amenities associated with the television.

According to some embodiments, a computer implemented method for adjusting one or more parameters of a content to be displayed on a display device can include receiving, by a media device and from an electronic device, measurement data including ambient light measurement data for an environment of the media device, the electronic device, and the display device. The method can further include adjusting, at the media device, the one or more parameters of the content based at least on the measurement data and outputting, by the media device, the adjusted content to the display device to be displayed.

An example method, performed by an edge data network, of transmitting image content, includes obtaining azimuth information and focal position information from an electronic device connected to the edge data network, and generating a filtered first partial image by performing filtering on a first partial image corresponding to the azimuth information by using one filter determined based on the focal position information.

Systems and methods for providing media content to supplement an exhibit from an image of an audience for the exhibit include an image capture device proximate the exhibit that captures an image of the audience that includes the faces of audience members. A facial recognition process is used to identify each audience member, and certain audience characteristics are determined from the captured image. Stored information about the identified audience members and/or the audience characteristic information are used to determine the media content to provide to a playback device for playback while the exhibit is viewed by the audience.

A set top/back box and system and method for providing a remote control device are disclosed. In one embodiment, one or more wireless transceivers are located within a housing, which also interconnectively includes television input/output, a processor, and memory. The set top/back box may establish a pairing with a programmable device, such as a proximate wireless-enabled interactive handheld device having a touch screen display, whereby formatted parallel audiovisual experience instructions, including virtual buttons, may be transmitted to the programmable device for display on the touch screen display to create an experience parallel to the experience on the television. An apparatus configured to: receive a spatial media file comprising a plurality of viewpoints; determine a viewpoint from the plurality of viewpoints for a user consuming the spatial media file; receive an audio stream associated with the viewpoint; receive an augmentation audio stream, wherein the augmentation audio stream is at least partially different from the audio stream; control an audio rendering of the audio stream based, at least partially, on metadata associated with the augmentation audio stream; and provide the audio rendering of the audio stream for mixing with a rendering of the augmentation audio stream.
