Set-top box for changing channels and system and method for use of same
A set-top box for changing channels and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the set-top box includes a network interface controller that is configured to receive a source internet protocol television signal, which includes two channels, from an external source and at least partially prepare the source internet protocol signal in order to forward the tuned signal to a television. The set-top box saves in a buffer the at least partially prepared second channel beginning at a recent periodic, sequential signal access point. In response to receiving a channel change instruction when the set-top box is forwarding the at least partially prepared first channel signal, the set-top box causes the television tuner to forward the at least partially prepared signal based on the second channel stored in the buffer beginning at the recent periodic, sequential signal access point.
Content-modification system with feature for managing multiple content-modification requests
In one aspect, a method includes receiving a first request for first supplemental content for use by a content-presentation device in performing a first content-modification operation, receiving a second request for second supplemental content for use by a tuner device in performing a second content-modification operation. The method also includes determining that the content-presentation device is connected to the tuner device, and based at least in part on the first and second requests, determining that the first and second requests are associated with the same modifiable content-segment, and, in response to the determinations, using one or more parameters as a basis to select for performance an action from a set of actions including a first action that facilitates performance of the first content-modification operation and a second action that facilitates performance of the second content-modification operation.
Virtual set-top box
A virtual set-top box (vSTB) for executing a middleware component, designed originally for use with the physical STB, including emulating hardware capabilities of the physical STB to process IPTV content received over a connection for presenting the IPTV content on a display of the electronic device.
Method and apparatus for determining video bit rate, and electronic device
Disclosed are a video bit rate determining method and apparatus, an electronic device, a storage medium. The method includes: determining a cancellation parameter ξ(k) for cancelling a throughput prediction error of a video block F.sub.k; determining a cache amount prediction value of each of video blocks from the video block F.sub.k to the video block F.sub.k+N−1 at the end of download thereof based on a throughput prediction value of the video blocks and ξ(k); determining a video playback quality loss value according to a weight value of the bit rate change between adjacent video blocks requested and a cache prediction error between the cache amount prediction value and a preset cache amount target value of the video blocks at the end of download thereof, requesting the video block F.sub.k at a bit rate that does not exceed a bit rate r(k) when the video playback quality loss value is minimum.
Systems and methods for resolving recording conflicts
Systems and methods are disclosed herein for determining whether a media asset intended to be recorded is actually transmitted at the time and on the source of a scheduled higher-priority recording. Should the intended media asset not be transmitted in a desirable way, or not transmitted at all, the system will instead make a recording of a lower-priority recording that would not have been made because of a conflict. The systems and methods described herein, before making a higher-priority recording, obtain a sample of the media asset included in a received transmission at a scheduled time and compare it to content associated with the media asset scheduled for recording to determine whether to record the received transmission.
FRAME GENERATION METHOD AND FRAME GENERATION DEVICE
A frame generation method includes: demodulating a digital broadcast signal that is based on a received digital broadcast wave; generating a packet including content information obtained in the demodulating; and generating a transmission frame including appended information and the packet. The appended information includes received information that is obtained in the demodulating. The received information is information other than the content information.
Multiple decoder interface for streamed media data
An example device for decoding media data includes a memory configured to store the media data and one or more processors implemented in circuitry and communicatively coupled to the memory. The one or more processors are configured to determine whether two or more decoder instances are intended to be synchronized. The one or more processors are configured to, based on the two or more decoder instances being intended to be synchronized, control the two or more decoder instances so as to enable rendering of decoded data from each of the two or more decoder instances at a same presentation time.
Video complexity detection for network traffic management
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method in which a processing system obtains encoded video content, and transmits the encoded video content over a network for presentation at a communication device by a video player executing on the communication device. The encoded video content is decoded in a decoding process by a decoder of an operating system of the communication device to generate decoded video content; the decoded video content is analyzed by a complexity analyzer of the operating system to generate a video complexity report. The method also includes receiving the video complexity report over the network from the communication device, and adjusting a data rate for the encoded video content, based at least in part on the video complexity report, to generate adjusted video content for transmission to the communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Image signal transmission apparatus and signal output circuit applying bandwidth broadening mechanism thereof
The present invention discloses a signal output circuit applying bandwidth broadening mechanism for an image signal transmission apparatus that includes a first driving circuit and a second driving circuit. The first driving circuit includes a continuous time linear equalizer (CTLE) and is configured to receive a digital input signal to perform a high frequency enhancement thereon to increase a bandwidth of the digital input signal to generate a first output signal, in which a zero point and two poles of a frequency response of the first driving circuit are determined by circuit parameters thereof. The second driving circuit is configured to receive and amplify the first output signal to generate a second output signal for an image receiving apparatus.
