In one aspect, a method includes receiving video content comprising a first data portion comprising parameters that control a visual appearance of frames of video content presented by a content-presentation device. The content-presentation device is communicatively coupled to a light unit that is (i) present in a viewing area of the content-presentation device and (ii) configured to provide ambient light in the viewing area. The method also includes extracting, from the received video content, a second data portion, separate from the first data portion, specifying one or more light control parameters that a controller associated with the light unit is configured to interpret as instructions for controlling the light unit. The method also includes transmitting the extracted second data portion to the controller to facilitate the controller controlling the light unit according to the specified one or more light control parameters.

Systems and methods for presenting user-selectable options for parental control in response to detecting a triggering action by a user are disclosed. A system generates for output a first content item on a device. The system identifies a first user and a second user in proximity to the device and determines that a first gesture is performed by the first user wherein the first gesture is covering the eyes of the second user. In response to determining that the first gesture is performed, the system presents a selectable option for a user input such as (a) skipping a portion of the first content item; (b) lowering the volume; (c) removing the video of the first content item; or (d) presenting a second content item instead of presenting the first content item. In response to receiving a user input selecting the selectable option, the system performs an action corresponding to the selectable option.

A method of broadcasting a game includes the following steps. The display apparatus includes: a display panel; a communicator configured to communicate with a service apparatus; and a controller configured to control the communicator to transmit operation information including a total operating time of the display apparatus and an operating temperature of the display apparatus, to the service apparatus; receive an image parameter from the service apparatus through the communicator, and based on the received image parameter data; process image data; and transmit the processed image to the display panel. The image parameter may include at least one of a brightness level, a contrast, a sharpness level, and a color density of the display panel.

The disclosed computer-implemented method may include receiving, as an input, segmented video scenes, where each video scene includes a specified length of video content. The method may further include scanning the video scenes to identify objects within the video scene and also determining a relative importance value for the identified objects. The relative importance value may include an indication of which objects are to be included in a cropped version of the video scene. The method may also include generating a video crop that is to be applied to the video scene such that the resulting cropped version of the video scene includes those identified objects that are to be included based on the relative importance value. The method may also include applying the generated video crop to the video scene to produce the cropped version of the video scene.
