Systems and methods for dynamically syncing from time-shifted frame to live stream of content
11627364 · 2023-04-11 · ·

Systems and methods for skipping a presentation of a portion of segments to catch up to live based on a priority level value is disclosed. For example, a streaming application generates a content item for live streaming where the content item comprises a plurality of segments. In response to determining that playing of the content item lags behind the live streaming of the content item, the streaming application identifies a duration of lag and determines a priority threshold based on the lag. Based on a manifest which includes priority level information, the streaming application determines whether a respective segment needs to be cached. For example, if a priority level for a segment that is within the duration of the lag has a priority level that is higher the priority threshold, then the segment is stored in a cache from a respective network address and is played from the cache.

ADDRESSABLE MEASUREMENT FRAMEWORK

Example methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to implement an addressable measurement framework are disclosed. Example apparatus disclosed herein perform a common homes analysis of provider data and panel data to determine a coverage footprint associated with the provider data, the provider data including at least one of return path data reported by a plurality of set-top boxes or automatic content recognition data reported by a plurality of smart media devices, and the panel data reported by media device meters. Disclosed example apparatus also weight a portion of the provider data based on the common homes analysis, weight a portion of the panel data based on the common homes analysis, and calculate an addressable advertisement rating based on the weighted portion of the provider data and the weighted portion of the panel data.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADAPTIVE STORAGE OF VIDEO DATA

A system and method dynamically supporting the concurrent storage of both quadrature amplitude modulated formatted and Internet protocol formatted video content. In particular, this dynamic support is based, at least in part, upon the recognition of format of the content being stored or retrieved from a memory. This memory is typically a hard-disk drive associated with a media gateway appliance. The system and method enable the provision of an improved content viewing and storage experience for users.

CONTENT DELIVERY METHOD AND SYSTEM THROUGH IN-VEHICLE NRTWORK BASED ON REGIONAL CONTENT POPULARITY

The present disclosure discloses a content delivery method and system through an in-vehicle network based on regional content popularity, and in particular relates to the technical field of in-vehicle networks. For a content library corresponding to a target region and each target vehicle in the target region, each target vehicle responds to content objects in the content library. Based on each content object in the content library corresponding to the target region and a data eigenvalue of a preset data type corresponding to each content object, for each target vehicle in the target region that receives a data screening request, in response to the data screening request, content objects that match the data screening request are obtained and scheduled. A set of data screening requests responded to by each target vehicle is obtained by constructing a utility function.

Subsequent look media presentation on a playing device

In general, in an aspect, second look advertising is enabled. During an original advertisement selection process at a network infrastructure, original-selection advertisements are selected for play back with a streaming format video on a viewer device. After the original advertisement selection process, the streaming format video is presented on the viewer device together with advertisements that are provided by a helper process and can include the original-selection advertisements or other advertisements or both.

NETWORK-CONTROLLED TIME-SHIFT LIVE MEDIA AND ADVERTISEMENT CONTENT PLAY FOR LEARNED ABR VIDEO WHITE SPOT COVERAGE IN A STREAMING NETWORK
20170374121 · 2017-12-28 ·

A scheme for managing ABR live media streaming of content in a wireless radio network environment that may have radio white spot areas. Upon determining that the wireless UE device executing an ABR client application is in a radio white spot area, the current ABR live media streaming session is time-shifted for a duration based on how long a service outage may last. During the video service outage, playback of advertisements pre-populated at the wireless UE device may be commenced. When the wireless UE device exits the radio white spot area, the ABR streaming session may be resumed to play the time-shifted media content from a point adjacent to the particular segment where the ABR streaming session was time-shifted.

Methods and systems for performing playback operations based on the length of time a user is outside a viewing area
09852774 · 2017-12-26 · ·

Methods and systems are discussed herein for a media guidance application that automatically determines (e.g., without querying a user) whether or not to perform a playback operation (e.g., rewinding, returning to a previous chapter, continuing to play, etc.) on a media asset based on the amount of content that was missed by a user. For example, if a user missed only a small portion of content (e.g., was outside of a viewing area of the media asset for a short period of time), the media guidance application may determine that the media asset does not need to be rewound. However, if a user missed a large portion of content (e.g., was outside of a viewing area of the media asset for an extended period of time), the media guidance application may determine that the media asset does need to be rewound.

Audio file processing to reduce latencies in play start times for cloud served audio files
11687313 · 2023-06-27 · ·

Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for managing audio files of a user to reduce latencies in play start times on local devices. The audio files are stored on cloud storage managed by a server. One method includes processing a plurality of audio files associated with a user, where the processing is configured to create audio snippet files from each of the plurality of audio files. The audio snippet files representing a beginning part of each of the plurality of audio files. The method also includes transmitting the audio snippet files to a client device and detecting a request from the client to begin playing a first audio file from the plurality of audio files of the user. The first audio file being stored on the cloud storage managed by the server.

Delivery of content

Future data connection quality may be predicted based on past data connection quality, and future requests for data may be predicted based on past requests. These predictions may be used to help decide whether, when, and/or how to deliver the data in a proactive manner. For example, according to some aspects described herein, a future data connection quality may be predicted based at least on historical data connection quality. It may be determined whether to pre-deliver at least a first portion of an item of content based at least on the predicted future data connection quality. If so, then the at least the portion of the item of content may be pre-delivered to the device and/or to another destination.
