APPARATUS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REDUCING TIME REQUIRED FOR A MEDIA CONTENT EVENT CHANNEL CHANGE
Systems and methods of a media device are operable to perform a channel change operation. An exemplary embodiment receives a first data table from a data table server, wherein the first data table comprises first control information used to perform a channel change operation such that the media device reconfigures itself to change to a new channel from a currently presenting channel or to a new media content event from a currently presenting media content event. The exemplary embodiment later receives a second data table after initiation of the channel change operation, wherein the second data table is broadcast to the media device in one of a plurality of received broadcasting media content streams that has the new media content event, and wherein the second data table comprises second control information that corresponds to at least some of the first control information used to perform the channel change operation.
APPARATUS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTENT AVAILABILITY NOTIFICATION
Systems and methods are operable to notify a user of content availability. An exemplary embodiment receives a content availability notification request that specifies at least one content of interest, searches current electronic program guide (EPG) information to identify the content of interest, determines that the information identifying the specified content of interest is unavailable based upon the search of the current EPG information, generates a content availability reminder that is associated with the specified content of interest, monitors a content database to determine an availability of the specified content of interest identified in the content availability reminder, determines that the specified content of interest is available when the monitored content database indicates availability of the specified content of interest, and generates a content availability reminder notification that indicates at least a title of the specified content of interest.
DATA PROCESSING SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENHANCED AUGMENTATION OF INTERACTIVE VIDEO CONTENT
Data processing systems and methods are disclosed for augmenting video content with one or more augmentations to produce augmented video. Elements within video content may be identified by spatiotemporal indices and may have associated values. An advertiser can pay to have an augmentation added to an element that, for example, advertises the advertiser's goods and/or includes a link that, when activated, takes a user to the advertiser's web site. Elements may have associated contexts that can be used to determine augmentations and element value, such as a position and/or current use of the element.
Reception apparatus, reception method, transmission apparatus, and transmission method
A reception apparatus, including circuitry configured to receive a content including at least one of audio content or video content, extract fingerprint information from data of the content, and provide the fingerprint information to a first server via a communication network. The circuitry is further configured to receive control information in response to providing the fingerprint information to the first server.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR STORING A MEDIA ASSET RESCHEDULED FOR TRANSMISSION FROM A DIFFERENT SOURCE
Systems and methods for efficiently determining that a media asset scheduled to be stored from one content source has been rescheduled to another content source. For example, by examining the contents of data packets received with a media asset which identify the media asset currently being received (e.g., a field in an event information table), a media guidance application executed on a set-top box or other user equipment device may determine in real-time that the media asset scheduled to be stored is not currently being transmitted from the originally-scheduled content source. In response to determining the media asset is not available from the originally-scheduled content source, the media guidance application may search through packets received from other content sources to determine a content source the media asset has been rescheduled to and store the media asset from that content source.
TRANSMISSION DEVICE, TRANSMISSION METHOD, RECEPTION DEVICE, RECEPTION METHOD, DISPLAY DEVICE, AND DISPLAY METHOD
A transmission device including circuitry is provided. The circuitry is configured to apply photoelectric conversion characteristics to high dynamic range video data to obtain transmission video data. The circuitry is configured to transmit a container including a video stream obtained by encoding the transmission video data. The circuitry is configured to insert type information to designate the type of conversion characteristics corresponding to the applied photoelectric conversion characteristics for photoelectric conversion of the transmission video data into a layer of the video stream and/or a layer of the container. The type of the conversion characteristics designated by the type information is determined regardless of luminance of a display.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR CONTENT DELIVERY SESSION RECOVERY
A first computing device may receive an indication of a second computing device. The first computing device may determine a continuity element based on a continuity between a representation of a content item located at the first computing device and a representation of the content item located at the second computing device. The first computing device may generate a data file associated with the content item. The data file may include a reference to the second computing device and the continuity element. The first computing device may receive a request for the content item from a user device. The first computing device may send the data file to the first computing device.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PLAYING MEDIA ASSETS STORED ON A DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER IN PERFORMING CUSTOMER SERVICE OR MESSAGING
Improved technical functionality is provided to dynamically select and seamlessly play advertisements immediately before playing of a recorded program upon selection of the recorded program for playing, or upon other detected events and conditions associated with the set-top-box (STB) or user. In some embodiments, this is performed by using metadata which may be delivered to and stored on a digital video recorder (DVR) prior to recording the program, providing a technical solution to enable opportunities for additional advertisement impressions. Playing of the advertisement may also or instead occur upon the recorded program finishing playing. Thus, the technical solution provides the additional opportunity for the content creator and/or the satellite television or cable service provider to sell advertising spots in addition to those already sold for breaks within the recorded program.
SERVER-SIDE AD INSERTIONS (SSAI) WITH ADDITIONAL METADATA AND CLIENT FUNCTIONALITY
A method of providing customized interaction of a media player based on metadata obtained from an origin server. In one step, the origin server obtains metadata related to an active substream content. The media player is provided a playlist for playing a primary video stream. The playlist includes a request for the metadata, the request being associated with the insertion of the active substream content in the playback of the primary video stream. The origin server receives the request for the metadata from the media player. The origin server inserts the active substream content and metadata segments into the primary video stream. A secondary video stream is obtained after insertion of the active substream content. The origin server provides the metadata to the media player using a metadata storage and a metadata service. The media player customizes the interaction using the metadata during playback of the secondary video stream.
Apparatus and method for transmitting or receiving broadcast signal
A method of processing a broadcast signal in a transmitter, includes generating service data, generating service layer signaling (SLS) information that provides session description information for at least one transport session carrying the service data, encapsulating the service data and the SLS information into Internet Protocol (IP) packets, generating physical layer signaling information that includes wake-up information for identifying whether a receiver is to be woken up and transmitting the broadcast signal including the IP packets and the physical layer signaling information, wherein the broadcast signal further includes emergency alert table (EAT) information that includes identification information for identifying an emergency alert message, wherein the EAT information further includes information for indicating a location of a rich media content related to the emergency alert message, and wherein the EAT information is carried in IP packets with well-known address and port information.
