Method and apparatus for providing customized information
A method for providing customized information to a plurality of portable communication devices. A customer premises equipment (CPE) synchronizes with at least one of the plurality of portable communication devices. The CPE extracts descriptive data of media content stored in the at least one portable communication device. The CPE searches for a descriptive data of content available at the CPE based on the descriptive data extracted from the at least one portable communication device. The CPE determines that the extracted descriptive data matches the descriptive data of content available at the CPE. The CPE makes the content available to the at least one portable communication device.
System and method of content acquisition and delivery
A method includes creating a first calendar event in an electronic calendar associated with a user. The first calendar event corresponds to a first viewing time and is associated with delivery of media content to a first device associated with the user. The method further includes rescheduling the first calendar event in response to determining that a scheduling conflict exists between the first calendar event and a second calendar event. Rescheduling the first calendar event includes modifying the first calendar event to correspond to a second viewing time and determining, based on the second viewing time, a second device to deliver the media content to. The second device is associated with the user.
Display apparatus for providing enhanced electronic program guide and method of controlling the same
A network device can include a tuner configured to receive audio and video data of at least one broadcast program, a network interface configured to receive at least one thumbnail image corresponding the at least one broadcast program, a user interface configured to receive a first command for executing an electronic program guide from a remote controller, and a controller configured to output a signal for displaying the electronic program guide in response to the first command. Also, the electronic program guide can include the at least one thumbnail image within a designated time zone.
Device and method for transmitting media data across multiple frequency bands
A transmission device is disclosed. The transmission device comprises a signal generation unit for generating a broadcast signal including a service, and a transmission unit for transmitting the broadcast signal through at least one radio frequency (RF) channel. A broadcast stream transmitted through the RF channel includes signaling for the service, the signaling for the service including information indicating whether the service is transmitted through a plurality of RF channels, and information indicating whether the broadcast stream transmitted through the RF channel contains an essential portion of the service.

There is provided a terminal device including a detection unit configured to detect a relay device, a reproduction unit configured to reproduce content, a transmission unit configured to transmit the reproduced content to the detected relay device, and an acquisition unit configured to acquire a response returned from one of identification server devices to the relay device according to a query, the response corresponding to an identification result of the content in such a way that the relay device extracts signature data representing a characteristic of the content from the content, generates the query including at least the extracted signature data, and transmits the generated query to the identification server device to request identification of the content.

The present disclosure relates to an information processing apparatus and an information processing method that are capable of reproducing content on the basis of an edit list in the case where the reproduction start time of content contained in a file in the MP4 Fragmented Movie format is later than the reproduction start time in a movie time scale. An edit list generation unit registers a top position of content as a reproduction start position of the content and a predetermined value as a reproduction time duration of the content in an edit list when a reproduction start time of the content is later than a reproduction start time of the content on a movie time scale, the edit list associating the reproduction start position of the content with the reproduction time duration of the content reproduced from the reproduction start position. The present disclosure is applicable to a file generation apparatus that generates a Fragmented MP4 file, for example.
PROGRAM PLAY CONTROL METHOD AND DIGITAL TELEVISION DEVICE
A program play control method and a digital television device are disclosed. The method includes: reading section data from received transport stream TS data packets, and directly saving the section data in a nonvolatile memory without parsing, where the section data carries program specific information PSI and system information SI; if audio/video data carried in a TS data packet corresponding to the PSI needs to be played, parsing the section data to obtain the PSI and the SI, and saving the PSI and the SI; and reading the PSI from the memory, playing, according to the PSI, the audio/video data carried in the TS data packet corresponding to the PSI, reading the SI from the memory, and displaying the SI. Implementation of embodiments of the present invention can save storage space of a memory and a nonvolatile memory in a case in which no loss of PSI/SI is ensured.

One or more computing devices may be configured to identify information corresponding to a program change request associated with a multi-program data transmission. The information may comprise at least a link to a desired program within the multi-program data transmission. The one or more computing devices may communicate the link to the desired program to a client device over a specified time period. After the time period, the one or more computing devices may communicate the desired program to the client device using a single program data transmission. The single program data transmission may be derived from the multi-program data transmission.
Method for addressing on-demand TV program content on TV services platform of a digital TV services provider
Video content is uploaded via the Internet to a video-on-demand (VOD) server identified by a title and a hierarchical address of categories and subcategories for categorizing the title. The VOD server converts and stores the video content at a storage address in a video content database linked to the title. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as in its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. This can enable many new blogging or podcasting-like programs by popular “Hosts” to be self-published on the Internet and readily navigated for display on TV. The EPG can also store TV program addresses as bookmarks and allow them to be shared with other subscribers or with friends and contacts online by sending to their email addresses.
Method and video device for accessing information
A method and video device are disclosed for accessing information. In an embodiment of the present invention, part of data included in a title, being played, read from a storage medium or extracted from a broadcast signal is extracted and sent to a server over a network, and information corresponding to the part of the data (i.e., information related to the data and complete data of the data) is received from the server and played. Rather than the part of the data, information related to a position of the data, (e.g. a time point at which the playing of the data starts within the title or a radial position or a physical address at which the data is located in the storage medium) may be sent. The data may be data that forms audio, a frame-shaped video clip or a frame-shaped picture included in the title.
