Methods and systems are provided for enabling presentation of supplemental application content to display devices while particular content is rendered on the display device. One example method includes receiving a request, at a server, to register a display device. The display device has hardware for communication over the Internet with the server. The display device further includes hardware for communication with a broadcast television provider that provides broadcast content to the display device. The method also includes registering the display device with the server. The registering includes receiving attributes of the display device. Also included is receiving information, at the server, regarding content rendered on the display device, and sending to the display device application data for at least one of the applications of the display device. The application data is correlated to the content rendered on the display device.

Methods of presenting video and audio perspectives of audio/video content are presented. In an example embodiment, audio/video content having a plurality of video perspectives and a plurality of audio perspectives of an event is received. Responsive to a first command from a media application configured to allow a user to select among the plurality of video perspectives, a selected first video perspective of the event is provided for presentation. Responsive to a second command from the media application that is also configured to allow a user to select among the plurality of audio perspectives, a selected first audio perspective of the event is associated with the selected first video perspective of the event, and the selected first audio perspective is provided for presentation in association with the selected first video perspective of the event.

A method for providing video and audio perspectives of audio/video content is presented. In an example embodiment, a media content item is received that includes audio/video content having at least one video perspective and a plurality of audio perspectives for the at least one video perspective. The at least one video perspective is provided with a first one of the plurality of audio perspectives for presentation on a display device. During the providing of the at least one video perspective with the first one of the plurality of audio perspectives, a first command is received from a media application configured to allow a user to select among the plurality of audio perspectives. Responsive to the first command, the video perspective is provided along with a selected second one of the plurality of audio perspectives in substitution of the first one of the plurality of audio perspectives for presentation on the display device.

A media recording system may be provided. The recording system may include features for reducing recording cut-off of a particular media event due to changes in the start time and end time of what is scheduled to be recorded. The recording system may provide a user with an opportunity to select a program by for example, selecting a listing, to have that program automatically recorded at a scheduled time for presentation to viewers. Changes in the schedule of programs may be compensated manually or automatically when the recording system receives information about actual or predicted time changes. In a manual mode, a user may adjust start or end times based on time change information that is displayed. For an automatic mode, the recording system may automatically compensate for predicted or actual time changes that are known by automatically adjusting the start and end times of recording.

A method of providing interactive services to a mobile device, comprising: transmitting programming over-the-air to a mobile device by a first facility in communication with a service provider; and receiving by a second facility comprising a wireless access point in communication with the service provider first information based on the programming from the mobile device is provided. A method of providing interactive services to a mobile device, comprising: receiving programming over-the-air by a mobile device from a first facility in communication with a service provider; and transmitting by the mobile device to a second facility comprising a wireless access point in communication with the service provider first information based on the programming is provided.

A content providing apparatus and method, and a content reproduction apparatus and method for accessing a content stream in a hybrid three-dimensional television (3DTV) are disclosed. The content providing apparatus may include a content stream generation unit to generate a first content stream corresponding to a reference image and a second content stream corresponding to a supplementary image, a descriptor generation unit to generate a descriptor associated with the first content stream and the second content stream, and a data transmission unit to transmit the first content stream, the second content stream, and the descriptor to a content reproduction apparatus.

Methods and systems for providing a multi-perspective video display are presented. In an example embodiment, a media content item including visual content and at least a portion of audio content associated with the visual content is received. The associated audio content includes audio content in a first spoken language and audio content in a second spoken language. The visual content is provided with the audio content in the first spoken language for presentation on a display device. Responsive to a first command from a media application, the visual content is provided along with the audio content in the second spoken language for presentation. Responsive to a second command, after the first command, from the media application to play at least a portion of the visual content, the portion of the visual content is provided along with a corresponding portion of the audio content in the second spoken language for presentation.

A system and method for a system for communicating with a user device includes a first transport processing system and a second transport processing system. The system also includes a software download manager that monitors a first transport processing system communicating a software image, generates a first announcement for the software image, communicates the first announcement to the user device, determines a failure of the first transport processing system, discontinues the first announcement for the software image in response to the failure and communicating the software image through the second transport processing system.
