LOCALIZED CLOUD SERVICES FOR PRIVACY-ISOLATED CLIENTS
Various arrangements of a local cloud system for providing television services are presented. A facility cloud host system may have a content service provider interface that is used to receive live television channel streams from a television content service provider. The local cloud system may have a transcoder that transcodes the live television channels into a format to be transmitted locally to client devices. The local cloud system may provide access to recorded content from a remote master cloud host.
Method and apparatus for selecting among multiple tuners
A system or method selects among multiple tuners to tune a particular channel. A request is received to tune a first channel. In response to this request, a first tuner is assigned to tune the first channel. A request is received to tune a second channel. If the program tuned by the first tuner is not being recorded, the first tuner is assigned to tune the second channel. If the program tuned by the first tuner is being recorded, the second tuner is assigned to tune the second channel.
Source device, content providing method using the source device, sink device and controlling method of the sink device
A source device for transmitting content to a sink device is provided. The source device may include an interface configured to perform high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) authentication with the sink device, and a controller configured to determine an HDCP version supported by the sink device, convert the content so as to be encrypted in the HDCP version supported by the sink device in response to a determination that another HDCP version applied to the content is not supported by the sink device, encrypt the converted content in the HDCP version supported by the sink device, and control the interface to transmit the content to the sink device.
System and method for digital media content creation and distribution
A method and system for providing on-site content delivery and on-demand content access. The method comprising recording digital media content on a DMR device, managing distribution of the digital media content to one or more remote devices, automatically distributing the digital media content to the one or more remote devices, the distributed digital media content configured for local hosting at the one or more remote devices, and monitoring consumption of the digital media content distributed to the one or remote devices.
VIEWING SYSTEM, BROADCAST RECEPTION DEVICE, PORTABLE TERMINAL, PROGRAM RECORDING AND VIEWING METHOD, AND VIEWING METHOD OF RECORDING PROGRAM
When a user inputs an operation of recording a broadcast program into a broadcast reception device, the broadcast reception device outputs, by a display video output unit of the broadcast reception device, a recording setting screen selecting a first recording method of recording program related information and not recording a video content of a broadcast program or a second recording method of recording the program related information and a video content of the broadcast program about a first program. When the first recording method is selected, the program related information is recorded and the video content of the broadcast program is not recorded. When the user inputs an operation of playing back the first program into the broadcast reception device, the broadcast reception device communicates with the server, receives the video content of the first program from the server, and outputs the video content by the display video output unit.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INITIATING A PLAYBACK PAUSE OPERATION ON ONE DEVICE AND RESUMING PLAYBACK ON ANOTHER PLAYBACK DEVICE
Methods and apparatus that support implementing a pause, e.g., of a broadcast, on a device, recording the paused program and resuming playback of the paused program on a device associated with a user's account, are described. The pause function allows a user to pause a broadcast on a device and initiate recording of the paused program, e.g., to network storage. The pause initiating device displays a pause indicator indicating that the program output has been paused. A user logging into the user's account from a device other than the device from which the pause was initiated is presented an opportunity to resume the paused playback. Playback is resumed from the pause point on the playback device from which a resume signal is received. Upon resumption of playback on a device other than the device from which the pause was initiated, the pause indicator on the pause initiating device is removed.
DISPLAY DEVICE FOR PROVIDING SCRAPE FUNCTION AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME
A display device for providing a scrape function includes a tuner, an external device interface for pairing with an external device, a user input interface for receiving user input, a storage for storing scrape data, a display for displaying content, and a controller for controlling operation of the display device. The controller performs control to update scrape data received from the external device upon pairing with the external device, to generate thumbnails of a plurality of content associated with the scrape data, and to arrange and display the thumbnails based on a predetermined thumbnail arrangement method.
Apparatus and Method for Displaying Content
A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a set-top-box (STB) having a controller to join a multicast group having an associated multicast address, wherein the multicast address is associated with a first content type of a plurality of content types, access encoded content associated with the first content type from the multicast address, wherein the encoded content is transmitted by at least one source associated with the multicast group to the multicast address, decode the accessed encoded content, and display the decoded content on a channel mapped to the multicast address. Other embodiments are disclosed.
APPARATUS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROL OF MEDIA CONTENT EVENT RECORDING
Systems and methods are operable to record a user-specified media content event at a media device. An exemplary embodiment grabs a series of subsequently received image frames from a preceding broadcasting media content event after a monitored real time reaches a closing credits monitor time, wherein the closing credits monitor time is a recording start time less a predefined duration. The embodiment then analyzes each of the image frames to identify an occurrence of text presented in the analyzed image frame, determines that the identified text corresponds to closing credits of the preceding broadcasting media content event if the at least one attribute of the identified text matches a corresponding predefined closing credits attribute, and initiates a start of the recording of the user-specified media content event in response to determining that the identified text corresponds to the closing credits of the preceding broadcasting media content event.
Multiple recording devices connected in a home network
Multiple device recording may be provided. First, a recording device may be added to a network. Next, in response to adding the recording device to the network, recording device attribute data and recording device metadata may be received from the recording device. The received recording device metadata may then be translated. Then, using the translated metadata, asset data corresponding to assets on the recording device may be displayed. The asset data may be displayed in such a way to indicate which assets on the recording device are supported and which assets on the recording device are not supported.
