Access of stored video from peer devices in a local network
A method that communicates a request from a first device to a proximally located second device for a movie residing in storage associated with the second device, the request communicated over a communications network, responsive to the request, receives the movie from the second device over the communications network, presents a menu on a screen corresponding to the first device, the menu comprising playback options to enable a user to manipulate playback and rewind of the movie, and responsive to user selection of one of the playback options, presents the movie on the screen.
Methods and apparatus for initiating a playback pause operation on one device and resuming playback on another playback device
Methods and apparatus that support implementing a pause, e.g., of a broadcast, on a device, recording the paused program and resuming playback of the paused program on a device associated with a user's account, are described. The pause function allows a user to pause a broadcast on a device and initiate recording of the paused program, e.g., to network storage. The pause initiating device displays a pause indicator indicating that the program output has been paused. A user logging into the user's account from a device other than the device from which the pause was initiated is presented an opportunity to resume the paused playback. Playback is resumed from the pause point on the playback device from which a resume signal is received. Upon resumption of playback on a device other than the device from which the pause was initiated, the pause indicator on the pause initiating device is removed.
Storage System and Method for High-Correlation Data Analysis with Unified Time Mapping
A storage system and method for high-correlation data analysis with unified time mapping are provided. In one embodiment, a controller of a storage system is configured to receive a data stream from a host, wherein the data stream comprises a clock reference signal configured to synchronize playback of audio and video in the data stream, wherein the clock reference signal is mapped to a clock of the host; map a clock of the storage system to the clock reference signal of the data stream; tag a storage system parameter with a time stamp generated by the clock of the storage system; and send the tagged storage system parameter to the host. Other embodiments are provided.
SOURCE DEVICE, CONTENT PROVIDING METHOD USING THE SOURCE DEVICE, SINK DEVICE AND CONTROLLING METHOD OF THE SINK DEVICE
A source device for transmitting content to a sink device is provided. The source device may include an interface configured to perform high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) authentication with the sink device, and a controller configured to determine an HDCP version supported by the sink device, convert the content so as to be encrypted in the HDCP version supported by the sink device in response to a determination that another HDCP version applied to the content is not supported by the sink device, encrypt the converted content in the HDCP version supported by the sink device, and control the interface to transmit the content to the sink device.
User defined rules for assigning destinations of content
A media guidance application is provided by which users can define rules for assigning user equipment devices as destinations for media content. For example, a user may define a rule by which selected media content having attributes that satisfy a user-defined condition are downloaded, recorded, or streamed to a particular, user-specified user equipment device. The user may define and manage rules using media guidance menus, and may restrict other users from accessing the rules (e.g., parents restricting children).
Video display apparatus, method of controlling video display apparatus, and recoding medium
A video display apparatus includes a wireless communicator which receives a video stream from a tuner apparatus via wireless communication, a display which displays a video based on the video stream, an HDMI (registered trademark) connector connected to a source apparatus via an HDMI (registered trademark) cable, and a changer which changes a signal output from an HPD terminal to the source apparatus to a level Lo when the signal output from the HPD terminal is at a level Hi and the video based on the video stream is displayed on the display.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR SELECTIVELY OBSCURING A RENDERING OF A MEDIA STREAM
Various embodiments of systems, apparatus, and/or methods are described for selectively obscuring a rendering of a media stream. In one implementation, the method includes receiving a request to render the media stream. The media stream is accessed through a first media source. A content identifier is identified for an event within the requested media stream. Based upon the content identifier, it may be discovered that the event is accessible through at least one second media source. The rendering of the requested media stream may then be obscured and a notification provided to a user that the event within the requested media stream is accessible through at least one second media source.
Extended recording time apparatus, systems, and methods
An embodiment for recording a channel that is communicating a program of interest identifies a selected program for recording as a program of interest based upon a characteristic of the selected program, the characteristic of the selected program corresponding to at least one characteristic associated with the program of interest, records an advance period corresponding to a period before a beginning of the program of interest, and records a following period corresponding to a period after a conclusion of the program of interest.
Dynamic selection of storage device for storing media
Methods, systems, and computer readable media may be operable to facilitate the dynamic selection of a storage device for storing media. When a recording request is received, storage information associated with resources of one or more networks and one or more storage devices may be retrieved, and a network may be selected for recording and storing the requested media based upon an algorithm that considers the retrieved information. One or more specific storage devices located on the selected network may be selected for recording and storing the requested media. The selection of the one or more specific storage devices may be made based upon an algorithm that considers the available resources and capabilities of available storage devices.
