A video content type seamless switching system and method for synchronizing and displaying multiple types of video content in a single platform, such as a single video player, application, or other content player. Illustrative video content type switching may be between 2D and interactive Artificial Intelligence formats coordinated by a switching controller. The switching controller may be configured to operate with television displays and associated control components, such as cable boxes, through implementation of the video content switching methods.

An embodiment for recording a channel that is communicating a program of interest identifies a selected program for recording as a program of interest based upon a characteristic of the selected program, the characteristic of the selected program corresponding to at least one characteristic associated with the program of interest,; records an advance period corresponding to a period before a beginning of the program of interest, and records a following period corresponding to a period after a conclusion of the program of interest.

A portable video delivery device includes data storage, a secure processor, and a wireless network interface that acts as an access point for a secure personal wireless network. Transcoded media files are stored in the data storage so that the portable device maintains a library of stored media programs that can be carried along with the user during commuting, travel and/or other activities. To playback the stored programming, other media player devices use the personal wireless network to securely connect to the portable device and to obtain previously-transcoded content from the data storage of the device.

An apparatus according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes: one or more memories, and circuitry which, in operation; decodes a video stream to generate a first video signal with a first luminance range; acquires characteristic data indicating the luminance range of the first video signal; converts the characteristic data into control information according to a predetermined transmission protocol; and outputs the control information in accordance with the predetermined transmission protocol.

A source device for transmitting content to a sink device is provided. The source device may include an interface configured to perform high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) authentication with the sink device, and a controller configured to determine an HDCP version supported by the sink device, convert the content so as to be encrypted in the HDCP version supported by the sink device in response to a determination that another HDCP version applied to the content is not supported by the sink device, encrypt the converted content in the HDCP version supported by the sink device, and control the interface to transmit the content to the sink device.

The present technology relates to an information processing device, an information processing method, and a program that enable the content transmitted by using MMT to be sent to an external device via a network. An information processing device according to one aspect of the present technology includes: a content acquisition unit that acquires content transmitted by using MMT; and an extraction unit that extracts information from transmission data based on MMT, the information being to be sent, as property information regarding the content, to an external device to which the content is to be sent via a network. The present technology can be applied to a receiver, such as an STB, that receives the content transmitted by using MMT and uploads the content to an external device via a network.

Various arrangements of a local cloud system for providing television services are presented. A facility cloud host system may have a content service provider interface that is used to receive live television channel streams from a television content service provider. The local cloud system may have a transcoder that transcodes the live television channels into a format to be transmitted locally to client devices. The local cloud system may provide access to recorded content from a remote master cloud host.

A facility for transferring configuration information to a target media device is described. The facility receives in the target media device a copy of media device settings stored in a source media device distinct from the target media device in a first form in which they are used in the source media device. This copy of media device settings is received by the target media device via a route other than its visual user interface. The facility causes the received copy of media device settings to be transformed into a second form in which they can be used in the target media device. The facility then stores the media receiver settings in the second form in the target media device for use by the target media device.

This disclosure describes a portable recording device that is configured to capture real-time multimedia data from a surrounding environment. The portable recording device may comprise one or more sensors to capture the real-time multimedia data, a category selector to selectively toggle between preset positions that designate a category classification to the real-time data, and an activation button to trigger one or more actions relating to the capture of the real-time multimedia data.
