Disclosed is an infotainment system for reproducing DRM content. The infotainment system for reproducing digital rights management (DRM) content of the present disclosure includes a module unit configured to receive the DRM content from a content provider, to reproduce the DRM content, and to convert the reproduced content into an output signal, a vehicle base unit including an interface configured to receive and transmit the output signal, and a display unit configured to display the output signal transmitted through the interface. The infotainment system for reproducing DRM content of the present disclosure has an effect of reproducing DRM content in an in-vehicle infotainment system without breaking laws related thereto.

A method of acquiring access rights to conditional access content. The method comprises receiving an access right on a first terminal through a first communication channel; storing said access right in said first terminal; sending a request for said conditional access content to a content provider, said request containing at least an identifier of an account to which said first terminal is associated, an identifier of the requested content and a piece of information concerning said access right; verifying, by said content provider, the authenticity of said access right using said piece of information concerning the access right; and when there has been a successful verification, marking said access right as used, and sending said conditional access content to at least one terminal linked to said account. The first terminal using near field communication technology (NFC) during at least one transfer of said access rights.

A set top/back box and system and method for providing a remote control device are disclosed. In one embodiment, one or more wireless transceivers are located within a housing, which also interconnectively includes television input/output, a processor, and memory. The set top/back box may establish a pairing with a programmable device, such as a proximate wireless-enabled interactive handheld device having a touch screen display, whereby formatted parallel audiovisual experience instructions, including virtual buttons, may be transmitted to the programmable device for display on the touch screen display to create an experience parallel to the experience on the television. The set top/back box receives and processes virtual remote control functionality input instructions from the programmable device to control amenities associated with the set top/back box.

A set top/back box and system and method for providing a remote control device are disclosed. A video output controlling apparatus and a video output controlling method that can reduce the possibility that a video for which encryption is required may be outputted in a non-encrypted state are provided. A first acceptance unit (40) accepts a video and an encryption necessity signal indicative of whether or not encryption of the video is required via a first route. A second acceptance unit (44) accept a control signal via a second route different from the first route. A video conversion unit (46) converts, in accordance with the control signal, the video accepted by the first acceptance unit (40) into one of a video that is different in a format from that of the video and is in an encrypted state and a video that is different in a format from that of the video and is not in an encrypted state. An output controlling unit (48) performs control regarding whether or not the video is to be outputted based on the encryption necessity signal and whether or not the video after conversion by the video conversion unit (46) is in an encrypted state.
