Wireless transport framework with uncoded transport tunneling

Wireless transport of multiple service versions of a transport framework. First and second information may be processed for transmission, respectively, according to first and second service versions of a transport framework. The first and second information may be encoded using a first type of error correction coding; after processing, the processed first information may include error correction coding according to the first type of error correction coding, while the processed second information may remain uncoded according to the first type of error correction coding. Control information may be generated indicating that the second information remains uncoded according to the first type of error correction coding, which may signal to receivers that the second information is processed according to the second service version of the transport framework. Packets including the processed first information, the processed second information, and the control information may be generated and transmitted in a wireless manner.

The present invention relates to a method for transmitting and receiving program configuration information for a scalable ultra high definition (UHD) video service under the hybrid transmission environment, and to a method and apparatus for effectively transmitting scalar layer information, and more particularly, the present invention relates to a scheme for inserting group information for the scalable layer of a base layer and an enhancement layer, which form a scalable UHD video, and transmission channel information into a program map table (PMT) or a package configuration table (PCT), and for transmitting same, and to a scalable layer information format for transmitting layer information with a smaller number of bits as possible when a packet header includes scalable layer information.

Control information for a wirelessly-transmitted data stream

Control information for configuring an audiovisual device to present multimedia content according to a first service type may be generated. A method may include generating first control information for configuring an audiovisual device to decode a multimedia stream, generating first data that indicates a structure of the first control information, and transmitting the first data and the first control information. The first control information may be generated according to a first protocol version. Second data and second control information may be similarly generated and transmitted according to a second protocol version. Disclosed techniques may facilitate receiving devices to determine whether they support received wireless transmissions and decode the transmissions based on the control information.

APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING BROADCAST SIGNALS, APPARATUS FOR RECEIVING BROADCAST SIGNALS, METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING BROADCAST SIGNALS AND METHOD FOR RECEIVING BROADCAST SIGNALS

The present invention provides an apparatus of transmitting broadcast signals, the apparatus including, an encoder for encoding service data, a frame builder for building at least one signal frame by mapping the encoded service data, a modulator for modulating data in the built at least one signal frame by an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, OFDM, scheme and a transmitter for transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data.

Practical delivery of high quality video using dynamic adaptive hypertext transport protocol (HTTP) streaming (DASH) without using HTTP in a broadcast network

A method for content delivery using dynamic adaptive hypertext transport protocol (HTTP) streaming (DASH) without using HTTP. The method includes receiving a media presentation description (MPD) file and one or more DASH segments by a client device. Information in the MPD file is used to filter the one or more DASH segments. The filtered DASH segments are stored in a segments buffer. Particular DASH segments are requested from the segments buffer by the client device based on the information.

A TV-Internet Integration Box allows display of first data broadcast over a TV subscriber channel simultaneously together with second data broadcast over a digital data communications network has respective first and second inputs for receiving at a user premises the first data and the second data according to a user-profile associated with the second data. A combiner unit combines the first data and second data to form a combined video signal; and a video output coupled to the combiner unit conveys the combined video signal to a TV set in a user premises for displaying a first image corresponding to a first data and having a superimposed thereon a second image corresponding to the second data. A user at the user premises may interact with the second image for redirecting to the digital data communications network and displaying a program broadcast thereby is a least a portion of the TV set.
