A display device and a control method therefor are disclosed. According to the disclosure, the display device comprises: a sensor for sensing the surrounding environmental state; an inputter for receiving a user command for content conversion; an outputter for outputting content corresponding to the user command; and a processor for controlling the outputter such that screen brightness and/or audio output strength of second content corresponding to the user command is changed and outputted, when the user command is inputted, on the basis of the sensed surrounding environmental state and/or output information of currently outputted first content. Therefore, the display device can variously output an output of content image and/or audio according to the surrounding environmental state.

Devices, systems, and processes for facilitating seamless use of tuners across multiple devices within a LAN are described and may include use of a first user device, communicatively coupled to the LAN, that includes a first hardware processor configured to execute first, non-transient, computer instructions for facilitating a first seamless tuner engine configured to identify at least one first tuner. A second user device, communicatively coupled to the LAN, may include a second hardware processor configured to execute second, non-transient, computer instructions for facilitating a second seamless tuner configured to identify at least one second tuner. At least one of, if not each, of seamless tuner engines may be configured to generate a universal tuner directory identifying availability of each the tuners. The universal tuner directory may be populated and tuners allocated based upon an emergency broadcast, auto-tune, PPV, original content, re-run, or Joey request type.

The present application discloses a method for display control and a display device, including: detecting program information acquiring information of a currently displayed program; determining a children's program: identifying the children's program based on the program information; and controlling the displaying: if the program is not a children's program, displaying the program normally on a television, and if the program is a children's program, starting a preset protection mechanism.

One high-level aspect of a content-modification system and related methods may involve facilitating content modification by a content-presentation device of received broadcast content in a controlled manner, while under circumstances in which some events that can impact timing may be unpredictable. In particular, certain operations by a content-presentation device may involve matching received content with specific expected content as determined by one or another component of the content-modification system, in order to confirm proper conditions are met for the content-presentation device to proceed with, or continue, content-modification operations. It can happen the matching procedure becomes subject or susceptible to timing irregularities, or jitter. In some instances, jitter may impact the ability to derive the benefits of content modification. Accordingly, example embodiments herein are directed to systems and method for compensation and/or mitigating the effects of jitter.

A video signal processing device includes an SoC that receives input of a plurality of video signals, each including a plurality of packets, and multiplexing the video signals to output a multiplexed video signal, and an FPGA that receives input of a multiplexed video signal and demultiplexes the multiplexed video signal to output the plurality of video signals. When deficient data whose size is less than the size of one packet is detected in any of a plurality of video signals, the FPGA performs one of (i) processing for discarding the detected deficient data and (ii) processing for adding dummy data to the detected deficient data to make the size of the deficient data equal to the size of an integral multiple of one packet.

Systems and methods are provided for providing information about events occurring in media content that was previously accessed. A display of a progress bar including segments for the events in the previously accessed content is provided in the screen view of current media being accessed. The progress bar segments may be selected to access the content. An example method includes maintaining (i) a scheduled playlist of media items for playback by one or more playback devices, (ii) a current playback position within the scheduled playlist, and (iii) a priority media item having a playback length. The method also includes receiving, from a playback device, a request to play back the scheduled playlist and, based on the received request, transmitting the priority media item to the playback device for playback beginning at a first time. The method also includes determining a next media item from the scheduled playlist based on the current playback position within the scheduled playlist at a second time that follows the first time by at least the playback length of the priority media item and, beginning with the next media item, transmitting one or more media items from the scheduled playlist to the playback device for playback after the priority media item.

A method for managing reception of digital contents by a management device suitable for receiving a command for selecting a content, termed the main content, arising from a control device. The management device is suitable for requesting reception of the main content and of other digital contents, termed secondary contents. It is also suitable for receiving the data streams representative of the requested contents, and for requesting the retrieval of the main content. According to the method, in the course of retrieval of the main content, a detection of an activity related to the control device triggers a request suitable for requesting reception of the secondary contents.

A video information periodic broadcasting method includes segmenting video information with an equal duration to obtain video segments S.sub.i of each time series, where i is the segment serial number of the video segments. The video segments S.sub.i are connected in series in an order of ascending the segment serial numbers. Segmenting each video segment S.sub.i with an equal duration to obtain video sub-segments S.sub.i,j of each time series, where the number of the video sub-segments S.sub.i,j of each time series is equal to the segment serial number of the video segments corresponding to the same time series, j is the sub-segment serial numbers of all the video sub-segments of the video segment. The video sub-segments S.sub.i,j are connected in series in an order of ascending the sub-segment serial numbers to form the video segment S.sub.i. Transmitting the video sub-segments through multiple periodic broadcasting channels with an equal bandwidth.

Systems and methods for enhanced sports-related media content access and display are provided. A user may want a media asset to continue to be output while selecting another media asset. A system may display a first and second sport for selection by a user. Upon user selection of the first sport, first and second sub-categories are displayed. User selection of a first sub-category causes display of sporting events in the first sub-category.
