ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR PERFORMING VIDEO CALL USING FRAME RATE CONVERSION AND METHOD FOR THE SAME
Disclosed are an electronic device and an operation method of the electronic device, and the electronic device may include a communication circuit configured to transmit or receive data using a call channel established via a call connection with an external electronic device, and a processor, wherein the processor is configured to receive at least some packets of a first plurality of packets of a first frame via the call channel, to identify whether a lost packet is present in the first plurality of packets of the first frame, and to determine, based on the result of the identification, whether to perform frame rate conversion (FRC) based on the first frame and a second frame corresponding to a second plurality of packets received after the reception of the at least some packets. In addition, various other embodiments are possible.
Method And System For Pre-Positioning And Post Positioning Content In A Content Distribution System
A system and method of operating a content distribution system includes generating a first request for first content by a first user device. Based on the first request for the first content, the first content is pre-positioned by communicating the first content to a downstream storage device closer to a second user device without communicating the first content to the first user device using the downstream storage device; and storing the first content in the downstream storage device as pre-positioned content. The method further includes communicating the first content to the second user device from the downstream storage device.
System and method for decreasing an initial buffering period of an adaptive streaming system
System and methods for selecting one of the alternative streams of encoded media from a group of alternative streams of encoded media for use during start-up of playback of the encoded media in accordance with embodiments of this invention are disclosed. The systems and methods begin by determining an estimated stability period for a current bandwidth of a communicative connection between the playback device and a remote system providing the alternative streams of encoded. A test process is then performed on the streams of encoded media to select one of streams of encoded media that provides portions of said encoded media such that an underflow condition does not occur during the estimated stability period. The streaming of encoded media is then commenced by requesting the portions of encoded media be transmitted from the remote server using the selected stream.
Data Processing Method and Device
A data processing method is applied to a digital interface, which includes: reading data cached by a data source, where the data source includes a video source and an auxiliary data source; outputting video data, if the video data cached by the video source is not empty, where when the video data is output, corresponding position marks are at start and end positions of a frame structure of the video data and at start and end positions of a row structure of the video data; and outputting auxiliary data, if the video data cached by the video source is empty, the auxiliary data cached by the auxiliary data source is not empty and the frame structure or the row structure of the video data has been output, where when the auxiliary data is output, corresponding position marks are at a start position and an end position of the auxiliary data.
System for the Reproduction of a Multimedia Content Using an Alternative Network if Poor Quality in First Network
A method, an apparatus and a system for the reproduction of a specific multimedia content are provided. The method includes the step of acquiring one or more samples of a specific multimedia content reproduced by a mobile multimedia radio/television apparatus, where the specific multimedia content is included in a first signal emitted by a broadcast-type radio/television network, including the further step of determining an identifier of the specific multimedia content and the value of a quality parameter of the first signal. According to the value of the quality parameter of the first signal, further steps include receiving on a multimedia telephone apparatus the specific multimedia content through a second signal emitted by a cellular telephone network, sending the specific multimedia content to one or more multimedia reproduction units included in the mobile multimedia radio/television apparatus.
METHOD FOR MANAGING ZAPPING OF DIGITAL MULTIMEDIA CONTENTS OBTAINED BY HTTP ADAPTIVE STREAMING (HAS), AND CORRESPONDING MANAGEMENT DEVICE, MULTIMEDIA STREAM READER AND COMPUTER PROGRAM
A method for managing zapping from a first digital content to a second digital content is disclosed. The first and second digital contents are obtained by HTTP adaptive streaming by a multimedia stream reader terminal and are each associated with a description file comprising a list of time segments of the content, each time segment being associated with multiple encoding rates of the content. The zapping management method involves: receiving a request to zap from the first digital content to the second digital content; obtaining the description file of the second digital content; selecting a rate for encoding a first time segment of the second digital content to be downloaded, on the basis of a resource constraint obtained by the multimedia stream reader terminal and on the basis of a target zapping time; and downloading the first time segment of the second digital content at the selected rate.
Geolocation of set-top boxes using machine learning
Various embodiments provide a system and methods for generating geographical models, determining geographical locations of set-top boxes using the geographical models, and modifying behavior of the set-top boxes based on their geographical locations. The set-top boxes determine their own geographical locations, regardless of whether the set-top boxes are capable of transmitting data to a content provider or include specialized equipment, such as a global positioning system, for determining geographical location.
Modifying content streaming based on device parameters
Described are examples for streaming content at a device. One or more environmental parameters can be determined for the device. One or more parameters for receiving streaming content via one or more streaming servers over one or more network connections can be modified based on the one or more environmental parameters. The streaming content can be received based at least in part on the one or more streaming parameters.
Sponsor driven digital marketing for live television broadcast
A system and method facilitate digital marketing for sponsors of live television broadcasts. The system allows a user, using an application on a computing device while a piece of sponsored content is being broadcast, to express an interest in the broadcast piece of sponsored content and the interest of the user is communicated to a backend system that selects an endpoint destination associated with the broadcast piece of sponsored content wherein the endpoint destination is a pointer to further digital information about the broadcast piece of sponsored content. The system and method may periodically change the selected endpoint destination based on an event in the sponsored piece of content.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND MEDIA FOR SELECTING VIDEO FORMATS FOR ADAPTIVE VIDEO STREAMING
Methods, systems, and media for selecting video formats for adaptive video streaming are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: receiving an indication of a video to be presented on a user device; identifying a group of quality metrics for each of a plurality of segments of the video, wherein each quality metric includes values for a particular segment and for a particular format of a group of available formats for the video; selecting a first format for a first segment of the video; causing the first segment of the video to be presented on the user device; identifying a quality of a network connection between the user device and a server that hosts the video; identifying a second format for a second segment of the video based on the quality of the network connection; determining whether a format of the video is to be changed from the first format to the second format based at least on the group of quality metrics for the second segment of the video; and, in response to determining that the format of the video is to be changed from the first format to the second format, causing the second segment having the second format to be presented by the user device.
