Pointer Activity As An Indicator Of Interestingness In Video
A method is provided, that initiates with providing a video over a network to a plurality of client devices, wherein each client device is configured to render the video and track movements of a pointer during the rendering of the video. Movement data that is indicative of the tracked movements of the pointer is received over the network from each client device. The movement data from the plurality of client devices is processed to determine aggregate pointer movement versus elapsed time of the video. The aggregate pointer movement is analyzed to identify a region of interest of the video. A preview of the video is generated based on the identified region of interest.
Data transmitting apparatus, data receiving apparatus, data transceiving system, method for transmitting data, and method for receiving data
Provided are data transmitting apparatuses and methods, data receives apparatuses and methods, and data transceiving systems and methods. A data transmitting apparatus includes: a packet generator configured to generate an audio metadata packet; and a transmitter configured to transmit the generated audio metadata packet to a data receiving apparatus, wherein a header of the generated audio metadata packet includes a split screen information field in relation to audio data represented by the generated audio metadata packet.
Media network environment
A network media environment includes a first hub network and a second hub network. The first hub network encompasses a first local environment based on a first server which is coupled to a first client. The second hub network encompasses a second local environment based on a second server which is also coupled to the first client. The first local environment and the second local environment overlap. The second local environment is movable with a movement of the second server.
Passive-active terminal adapter and method having automatic return loss control
Return loss due to excessive signal reflection into a cable television (CATV) network from an inoperative or abnormally operative terminal adapter is minimized, to communicate enhanced passive downstream signals to passive subscriber devices such as “life-line” telephone sets. A predetermined termination impedance is substituted for an active branch circuit of the terminal adapter whenever reduced input voltage, over-current or under-current conditions exist in the terminal adapter.
System and method to manage a content stream
A method of managing bandwidth usage at a customer premises includes receiving a content stream at a set-top box device coupled to a display device. The method also includes receiving a power-off command for the display device. Furthermore, the method includes displaying a prompt on the display device, wherein the prompt comprises an instruction to confirm that the display device is active via a confirmation input. The method further includes directing, responsive to the determining that the confirmation input has not been received, a source device to cease sending the content stream to the set-top box.
Access of stored video from peer devices in a local network
A method that communicates a request from a first device to a proximally located second device for a movie residing in storage associated with the second device, the request communicated over a communications network, responsive to the request, receives the movie from the second device over the communications network, presents a menu on a screen corresponding to the first device, the menu comprising playback options to enable a user to manipulate playback and rewind of the movie, and responsive to user selection of one of the playback options, presents the movie on the screen.
Wireless Radio Switching
Examples are provided for establishing a bonded zone comprising a first playback device comprising a respective first wireless radio and a second playback device comprising a second respective wireless radio. The first and second playback devices may establish a bonded zone comprising at least the first and second playback device. While in the established bonded zone, the first playback device may determine that the first playback device is in the established bonded zone and that the first playback device is not currently playing audio in synchrony with the second playback device. Responsive to determining that the first playback device is not playing audio in synchrony, the first playback device may disable communicating via the first wireless radio of the first playback device and send a message to the second playback device to disable communicating via the first wireless radio of the second playback device.
Storage System and Method for High-Correlation Data Analysis with Unified Time Mapping
A storage system and method for high-correlation data analysis with unified time mapping are provided. In one embodiment, a controller of a storage system is configured to receive a data stream from a host, wherein the data stream comprises a clock reference signal configured to synchronize playback of audio and video in the data stream, wherein the clock reference signal is mapped to a clock of the host; map a clock of the storage system to the clock reference signal of the data stream; tag a storage system parameter with a time stamp generated by the clock of the storage system; and send the tagged storage system parameter to the host. Other embodiments are provided.
Methods and apparatus to count people in an audience
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to count people in an audience are disclosed. An apparatus includes a location determiner to determine a location of a portable device was outside of a media exposure environment, and a proximity determiner to determine a person was in proximity to the portable device. The apparatus also includes a presence detector to: generate first presence information based on the location of the portable device and the proximity of the person to the portable device, the first presence information to indicate that the person was absent from the media exposure environment; compare the first presence information to second presence information collected by a people meter; and, when the second presence information indicates the person was present in the media exposure environment, modify the second presence information based on the first presence information.
Dynamic video encoding and view adaptation in wireless computing environments
An apparatus of embodiments, as described herein, includes one or more processors to track data associated with movement of a computing device accessible to a user, and evaluate the data and compare a latency with latency thresholds, where the data indicates the latency and the latency thresholds associated with a frame. The one or more processors are further to maintain a current video encoding rate, if the latency is lower than a first latency threshold and greater than a second latency threshold. The current video encoding rate is decreased if the latency is equal to or greater than the first latency threshold, where the current video encoding rate is increased if the latency is lower than the second latency threshold. The one or more processors are further to present the frame at the computing device including one or more of a wearable device and a mobile device.
