Power efficient detection of watermarks in media signals

Example apparatus disclosed herein include a watermark detector to detect watermarks in a media signal. Disclosed example apparatus also include a controller to operate the watermark detector to (1) detect a first watermark in the media signal, and (2) cycle between sleep intervals and active intervals based on a repetition rate of the watermarks in the media signal to perform a detection operation for a second watermark at a second location in the media signal relative to a first location of the first watermark in the media signal. In some examples, the controller is to search a buffer of prior detected watermark symbols to detect a third watermark at a third location prior to the second location in the media signal in response to the second watermark not being detected at the second location in the media signal.

Screen casting

Screen casting on between two devices is described. In an example implementation, a communication link is established by a first device with a second device for casting a screen of the second device on the first device. Upon establishing the communication link, a command message is sent by the first device to the second device to set a backlight of the screen of the second device based on user backlight settings. When no user activity is detected on the second device for a specific time period, a request message is received by the first device from the second device, indicating switching the backlight of the screen of the second device to power-saving backlight settings. In response to the request message, a command message is sent by the first device to the second device to set the backlight of the screen of the second device based on the power-saving backlight settings.

Systems and methods for generating a watch schedule and compressed content to complete a series before expiration

Systems and methods are described herein for generating a watch schedule and compressed series for a user for a series that is expected to become unavailable. Availability data indicating when a content series will become unavailable is received and compared to user progression habits. If the content series will become unavailable before the user will complete it, a watch schedule may be offered to the user. If the user subsequently falls behind on this watch schedule, a compressed version of the content series may be offered to the user.

Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for transferring streaming media playback between streaming media devices. In an example embodiment, a user may be streaming content using a first media device. The user may then send a command to the first media device to transfer the streaming content to a second media device. The first media device may identify the second media device as being on a common network and transmit a wake command to the second media device as well as media playback state information indicating a playback position to resume playback. In some embodiments, the first media device may download the media playback state information onto a mobile device. The mobile device may then provide the media playback state information to the second media device to resume playback at the first media device's playback position.
