RADIO FREQUENCY SENSING IN A TELEVISION ENVIRONMENT
20220295144 · 2022-09-15 ·

Techniques are provided for performing radio frequency (RF) sensing to determine the viewing status of a television user. This can be used to determine user behavior during the playback of content (e.g., whether a user is watching the content), which can be used as a data point for determining the user's level of interest in the content. Using the status of the television user, embodiments can provide additional or alternative functionality, such as powering down and/or powering up the television. Furthermore, RF sensing may be performed by existing television hardware, such a Wi-Fi transceiver, and may therefore provide RF sensing functionality to a television with little or no added cost.

Systems, methods, and media for providing an enhanced remote control that synchronizes with media content presentation are provided. In some embodiments, the method for presenting and inhibiting media content includes: receiving, using a hardware processor, a request to execute a media application for presenting media content on a media device, wherein the media application is associated with user preference settings that indicate a threshold amount of time for viewing media content and wherein the media device is controlled by a remote control device; causing, using the hardware processor, presentation of a media content item to begin; determining, using the hardware processor, whether the timing parameter for viewing media content from the user preference settings has been met; and, in response to determining that the timing parameter for viewing media content has been met, causing, using the hardware processor, the media application executing on the media device to end the presentation of the media content item and transmitting, using the hardware processor, a message to the remote control that disables the remote control from controlling the media device.

METHOD OF CONTROLLING DISPLAY DEVICE, AND DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE METHOD

Provided is a display device including a display, a speaker, a communicator comprising communication circuitry configured to perform wireless communication, a memory configured to store one or more instructions, and a controller including at least one processor configured to execute at least one of the one or more instructions. Based on a wireless connection request for audio transmission being received from an external device while the display device is in a power-off state, the communicator is further configured to transmit, to the external device, a response indicating acceptance of the wireless connection request, and to operate to wake up the controller to a state requiring wireless connection.

Systems and methods for dynamic scheduling

Disclosed herein a system, a method and a device for dynamic scheduling between a head wearable display and a console is provided. The head wearable display can initiate, at a first time instance, a first downlink transmission to the console. The head wearable display can dynamically indicate, to the console, an end of the first downlink transmission, at a second time instance when transfer of data of the first downlink transmission is complete. The head wearable display can dynamically cause, relative to the second time instance, the console to begin an uplink transmission. The head wearable display can receive an indication to dynamically start a second downlink transmission, at a third time instance when transfer of data of the uplink transmission is complete.

AUTOMATICALLY OR SEMI-AUTOMATICALLY TRANSFERRING CONFIGURATION INFORMATION IN CONNECTION WITH A MEDIA DEVICE UPGRADE
20220116675 · 2022-04-14 ·

A facility for transferring configuration information to a target media device is described. The facility receives in the target media device a copy of media device settings stored in a source media device distinct from the target media device in a first form in which they are used in the source media device. This copy of media device settings is received by the target media device via a route other than its visual user interface. The facility causes the received copy of media device settings to be transformed into a second form in which they can be used in the target media device. The facility then stores the media receiver settings in the second form in the target media device for use by the target media device.

DETECTION CIRCUIT AND WAKE-UP METHOD
20220109908 · 2022-04-07 ·

A detection circuit and a wake-up method are provided. The detection circuit is adapted to a high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) receiver that enters a power-saving mode in a fixed rate link (FRL) mode to detect whether or not an HDMI transmitter starts to transmit video packets through the FRL. The detection circuit includes a signal detection circuit detecting whether or not signal exists on the FRL and an FRL packet determination circuit determining whether or not the FRL packets are the video packets according to a variable value characteristic of the video packets and/or a fixed value characteristic of gap packets. An existence of the signal on the FRL indicates an existence of FRL packets on the FRL. When the FRL packets are the video packets, the FRL packet determination circuit wakes the HDMI receiver from the power-saving mode to resolve the video packets and display videos.

SET TOP BOX HAVING DOWNLOADED EXTENDER SERVICE AGENT TO PROVIDE ENHANCED WI-FI COVERAGE
20220109909 · 2022-04-07 ·

A set top box (STB) providing enhanced Wi-Fi coverage. The STB downloads and configures an extender service agent for implementing extender capability at the STB. pairing the extender service agent with a router, and providing extended wireless IP connectivity using a fronthaul connection via the antenna to clients in range of IP signals radiated by the antenna. When the STB uses a wired backhaul connection all of an available bandwidth is used for the fronthaul connection, and when a wireless backhaul connection is used, the available bandwidth is split between the backhaul connection and the fronthaul connection.

MULTIMEDIA DEVICE AND RELATED METHOD FOR A VIDEO MUTE MODE

A multimedia device is configured to process video data via a related method. The multimedia device includes a processor in communication with a panel. The processor is configured to output the video data to the panel when being switched into a video unmute mode, and further to not output the video data to the panel when being switched into a first video mute mode. The processor is further configured to execute media retrieval and visual processing in response to the first video mute mode.

Reporting of engaged views of directed content

Technologies are provided for reporting engaged impressions of directed content. Some embodiments include a computing device that can initiate a screensaver session within a content streaming service. The computing device also can cause presentation of a directed content asset on a display device functionally coupled to the computing device. The computing device can then update a queue to add a record of an impression of the directed content asset, where the queue is retained in a memory device of the computing device. The computing device can receive a signal indicative of user activity. The computing device can determine, using the queue, that the impression of the directed content asset occurred within a defined time interval relative to a time that the user activity occurred. The computing device can then send data identifying the directed content asset.

CONTROL METHOD AND CIRCUITRY OF RECEIVER

The present invention provides a control method of a receiver. The control method includes the steps of: when the receiver enters a sleep/standby mode, continually detecting an auxiliary signal from an auxiliary channel to generate a detection result; and if the detection result indicates that the auxiliary signal has a preamble or a specific pattern, generating a wake-up control signal to wake up the receiver before successfully receiving the auxiliary signal having a wake-up command.
