Disclosed herein is a system for providing a low-latency transmission between a client and a server. The client may be a thin client that leverages a codec to receive data transmissions from the server over a dedicated connection and need not require significant processing power. The client-server system has additional capabilities for reducing latency, including providing a view port for viewing portions of documents in a buffer cache and providing a method for blending image content by applying an alpha coefficient to separated red, blue, and green image components.

Systems and processes are disclosed for controlling television user interactions using a virtual assistant. In an example process, a virtual assistant can interact with a television set-top box to control content shown on a television display. Speech input for the virtual assistant can be received from a device with a microphone. The speech input can comprise a query associated with content shown on the television display. A user intent of the query can be determined based on one or more of the content shown on the television display and a viewing history of media content. A result of the query can be caused to be displayed based on the determined user intent.

System, methods, and non-transitory, machine-readable media to facilitate state-based content composite generation with respect to digitally distributed content are disclosed. Electronic communications received via interfaces may be detected. Signals of events that are specified for digital distribution from events may be detected. Data changes that are generated based on an event may be detected. A specification of criteria that apply to the data changes may be identified. A content composite may be created. The content composite may be output for presentation so that the endpoint media device performs an operation relating to the content composite. A signal corresponding to the operation that is indicative of activation of an interface option may be processed.

A method uses the eye gaze of a user, as a proxy of their attention, and leverages it to provide a more natural experience in a multi-view, i.e. multi-party and multi-perspective, video streaming service. The method takes advantage of increasingly powerful inexpensive cameras and related software to provide commodity eye-tracking. The method also leverages collected data on user interactions and uses machine learning techniques to customize its response to individual usage patterns. A system is specified for implementing the described method on a streaming architecture.

A community-based recommendation engine is provided. In one example embodiment, a system to provide community-based recommendation engine comprises a recommendation detector and a decision module. The recommendation detector is configured to receive, at a viewer's system, a recommendation for a content item from a contact of a viewer. The present disclosure provides a method and device for processing a public event through key distribution, and a set top box. The method includes: creating a sub window, and loading a third-party page to the sub window; displaying the sub window on a current page, and hiding a main window; and distributing a key message to the main window and the sub window, after receiving the key message; where the key message is used to enable the main window or the sub window to make a corresponding response based on a type of the key message.

This disclosure describes techniques of display a multimedia resource. The techniques includes obtaining a multimedia resource and at least one bullet screen component associated with the multimedia resource; determining a relative position relationship between a play application and the at least one bullet screen component, and loading the at least one bullet screen component and the multimedia resource to the play application based at least in part on the relative position relationship; and displaying the multimedia resource and the bullet screen component through the play application.

An audio/video (AV) receiver is adapted to be dynamically reconfigured in a selected one of an encrypted content support mode and an unencrypted content support mode. The AV receiver includes a controller configured to dynamically alter one or more encryption settings based at least in part on user input provided to a mode toggle mechanism. The one or more altered encryption settings are effective to facilitate presentation of unencrypted content within a received media stream on a display while selectively preventing presentation of encrypted content included in the received media stream on the display.
